deep dish rims
Yes I know the big rim topic has been done
but I just cant get any tyre/mag shop work
to figure out what I want (tyre ppl are dumb as,LOL)
heres what Im tryin to get
Any of them would do and yes
"that is really what I want"
1)
2)
3)
now if you dont like big reverse dish or are gonna tell
me how the rims will warp or that they will be ilegal,
dont reply to this post,
Hey Nxtime did you work out the best back spacing
as I cant find that thread ?.
the wish list :http://www.jdm-wheels.com/used.html
cheers:Phil.

I am this very minute finalising the offsets for my new rims.
I have measured so many bloody times and still question my sizing calculations. I would suggest you measure your own car and confirm it on a sizing chart such as www.rims-n-tires.com I have asked your question many times and it only takes some one to tell you what they believe to be true but is not 100% and you have a set of rims which don't fit!!
Is your Starion a widebody? Do you have std suspension? Have you changed the ride height? All these variables change spacings.
Do you realise for instance that a 10" width rim is not 254mm wide but actually 278mm - the extra 24mm is the 12mm lip on the rim circumfrence each side.
I have a lowered ride height with coil overs. I am going to fit 18' x 10' rims to the rear. I have a std 8" widebody rim on it to compare sizing and I believe that to fill the guard I need an exta 30mm of dish which would place an extra 20mm on the inside of the rim (totalling the exta 50mm - 2" in rim width) this calulates out to be a 18"x10" rim with a negative 15mm offset.
According to my measurements this would place the outside lip of the rim about 6mm inside the outside face of the guard (tyre might contact guard lip but on compression of suspension it should actually move away from the guard.
The fronts are 18"x9" with a positive 13mm offset. This would not work on std suspension. I believe that this would place the outside rim lip 30mm closer to the guard and bring the inside rim lip 20mm closer to the strut. Both the front and rear calculations are based on std rim offsets and actual physical measurements.
I am concerned with my front internal clearance with a 9" rim and should play it safe with an 8.5" width. The other concern I have is that most people have suggested a 0mm offset for a 10" rear but this I believe would place the outside rim lip some 15mm inside the guard face.
What have you and others calculated?

Hi groupAralliart, yep its the widie you put
me on to in Japan (black beauty) I have
tried the rear wheels on the front (8" -0 offset)
and they dont hit when steering
I havent really measured them but I have asked
as many ppl as I could and still want a wheel shop
to do the measuring (so it right)
I like that you have really had a go at getting
your measurements right, Look at the last time
this game was played and heres what we had.

Go for some 17x9 and 17x10 I reckon, cheaper and easier to get tyres for, and 18s are just that bit more heavier and the tyres are just that bit more expensive.
Oh yeah the first option would be my choice

Okay measured again and almost ready to order:
I am playing it safe and putting a 8 1/2" rim on the front with a +15 offset. This should give me roughly 8mm rim clearance from outside guard face.
The rears have measured up at 10" rim with a -5 offset. This should give me roughly 10mm rim clearance from outside guard fase.
With these offsets and then a slight sidewall bulge I should just clear a rolled lip on the inside of the guards and not scrub out - I hope!
I am calling tomorrow to check on production time and costs. Then will do another nervous measure up and order asap.
In my mind I could fill the guards if I need to with a 5mm spacer - something I would rather not have to do. It is safer to be inside than outside the 'scrub' zone though.

phil, you will either need a set of japanese rims, simmons or roh 3 piece, or american billets for the widey, as you obviously need a BIG stagger in sizes for these things. steve's going for simmons i believe.. i'm going for a set of Volk's when the time comes.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

im not a great help here but if i were you i would make a T with a slot in it out of wood, you can make a piece that bolts to a few of your lugs and is 1/2 the rim diameter. the your "T" piece can be adjustable back and forth and be the length of the rim width you want. If you really want to be sure you can pull the spring off and leave the damper and cycle your suspension up and down and turn your fronts while doing this. im sure there is some measurement device out there for it but id say for a very small investment(probably scrap laying around) you could fab this up and be sure of your clearance.
If you really want to get fancy you can make the "T" part contoured how your tire would be.
If this wasnt clear let me know and i can draw you up something real quick to explain it.
good luck.

that is good as it gets,
Im willing to hang out till groupAralliart has his
wheels done (messured) and do the wood thing
just to satisfy myself,
I`LL say this again "I want as much reverse dish
as is possible" then move on to POWER, well maybe
not streight after as Im gonna take holidays from
