New Memeber from the US, lots of pics inside

Post by shift1313 »

Hey guys. Im a member of starquestclub and i occasionally pop in and check out your tech section and thought i would break down and join. Especially since recently ive started the nsx brake conversion on my car.

Little info on me:
Im a part time engineering student and a full time fabricator in the transportation research industry, for the past 8 years. Im 27 and i enjoy cars and motorcycles(motorcycles more) and really anything thats motorized and fun.

Info about my car:
I have an 84 starion ES model(which came with velnas that i have seen a few of you ask about). I am the second owner of the car, It currently has about 116k on it and since 2002 when i got the car ive only driven it about 1500miles. I got the car in a non running state(electrical issues) and it had sat for about 3 years outdoors, but prior to that was a very well maintained car.

I made a custom 2.5" exhaust for the car, removed all the emissions equipment, cruise control, ac, basically anything non essential under the hood just to clean it up a bit. Ive painted the engine bay and ive just recently added a front mount intercooler from one of our widebody models.

Here are some pics of the car.

This was just taken

here is one of many stress analysis's that i ran on the caliper bracket

Image

that one is 3/8" thick steel using all 5 locator bolt holes and i believe 700lbs of force on each caliper bolt hole tangent to the direction of the rotor travel.

im really just hear to learn and share info. This car is an off and on project for me. It sat for a few years with motor troubles and i just recently rebuilt the engine( i still have motor troubles though). I plan on putting a large holset turbo on after i figure out my issues, multi port FI, which means nothing to you 4g63 guys who have it readily available ;). Right now my focus is on brakes and suspension. Next will be engine, and then last will be bodywork. I have watched and seen some very nice cars from you guys and i hope to gain a lot of info.
