Tommi sounds like you have bought the seat that was to many$$$$$$$$ for me
I am getting a race seat installed in my JB by Dave at Redzone and I think that it will have to be custom made due to the way the stock seat is mounted
The car is at redzones to have my new stroker motor fitted and hope to fet it back in about 1 week
I've had mine since 03 07 92

How I mounted my seat was I took the stock starion seat mount and mounted the race seat to it. I was lucky in that the race seat had mounting bolts on the bottom and two of the bolts lined up with the standard starion seat mounting holes.

So if you use the starion seat rails and if necessary make some brackets to line up with the starion seat mount and the race seat.

Rad,

from memory it sits lower than the starion seat as the bottom of the seat is about level to the seat rail. I'll jump in the car this weekend with my helmet on to make sure. How tall are you rad for comparison.

I'm six foot three and fit into mine. Just chop the top section of your helmet off!

I found an old pic of the seat in the starion

Image

from the pics it does look lower than the passenger side with the stock seats.

I almost forgot to mention, as you probably know the seat belt is mounted to the stock seat so you need to make up a bracket to mount it with the fixed bucket seat. Also the daytona is only complies with adr, but does not have fia approval, so you wont be able to use if the event mandates that you have a seat that complies with fia.

As for shaving the helmet wont that defeat the purpose of wearing one as it will just weaken it.

Definately not: if you criss cross race tape over the opening - use the same colour as the helmet to get that 'professional' finish, you will solve the strength issue!
