Not a bad job mate!
Steam pipe is definitely the way to go,
Could ease up on the power a bit though to avoid those undercuts.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving just wasn't your sport!

Undercuts?
If you mean the welds, they are done without any filler rod on the first pass and then they get a second pass to fill them up!
That way i got good penetration rofl

Ive seen manifolds like that with a small cut from each bolt hole to allow for expansion. Not sure if it's good or bad, just something I've noticed.
