Big bump..

Went for a trip to Townsville on the weekend and caught up with Phil.
This car is immaculate. So original as well. Phil doesnt let anything that can hurt his car get near it. Those gaurds look wider in person then what you see in pics as well.
He was also kind enough to take me for a spin in it. I didnt expect the amount of torque it had considering it was stock.

Also took me for a drive in his 2.6 Turbo Triton ute. If you think chain driven motors suck your wrong.

I think all you guys running around with original shocks/dampers need to know that even the best damper oil on the market only has a 100% effective life of 25000klms ( of normal driving ) , so any dampers that have done any more than 25000klms are not working 100% and any that have done more than 50000klms are probably rooted .

The adjustable ones were made by GAB I believe and should be rebuildable .

Anything else should be replaced .

I will pull mine out soon and have them checked, they are adjustable SHP struts, front and back. I think I will now arrange a set of lowered dual rate springs from Kings and wait until some one else does the coil overs. I can not justify the extra couple of grand for the amount of track work I will be doing straight up.

Hey Brendan we gotta get all the northern Starions
in the same place at the same time, (like sure),,,,
it was good to see that Redone is in really good nic`
love the wheels btw

Ihave wound my (ALL 4) shocks down to 1 and drove
for a week and clicked them to 8 and done the same
and they are working just fine ((?)

What was the percentage of variation do you think there was in firmness between 1 and 8? Would you want it to be any harder?

They may well be , but my point is , if you put some new equal spec ones in you would notice a big difference . And unfortunately , the way most people find out their shocks gave out is when they're trying to find what caused their accident .

Another way to put it , would you run your engine with 20 + years old oil in it ? People are finally waking up to the fact that Gearbox and diff oil doesn't last forever and does need to be changed , but don't forget the dampers run with oil too .

point taken,
the shocks are probably a little hard (on "8") for average
street driving as I found her a little tail happy for my liking
and one was like (well) ((a 4-6 year old commie with 45000+ kms))
you know good to drive, drop a few more inches when braking
but as good as a VT commie.

How to get it to feel like you could turn in hard at speed
would be what I would like from SPRING/SHOCKIE combo

Cheers:Phil.

Contact Fulcrum Suspension in Brisbane , they can most likely rebuild them for you for much cheaper than replacement cost .
