Large LSD

Post by silo »

Hey fellas!
My LSD arrived yesterday.... Sweeeet!
Took it out of the box and put it next to my other diff and
its bigger! tried to stick it in the housing... no chance!

What do i do?
Is this the fabled "Big ass sucker" that can handle big HP?
Did any local staz's come with the bigger housing?

Silas

Btw this is the housing it came from!

I thought the one with the ring around the drain plug was the right one!

Do you have the housing or just the centre?

JA & some JB came with the small diff.
some JB, JD & widebody come with the big diff.
88/89 wide have the same size diff, but use bigger half shafts & sun gears.

Do your half shafts fit?

I only got the diff center in
My half shafts do fit! If i get a large housing from a late JB or JD will
this center fit in? or do i have to get the housing and torque tube from usa?

Redzone, Yes, this diff is an 86-87 Widebody lsd from usa!

Anyone wanna swap for a small lsd???

i'll swap you for my small lsd if someone can source the parts i need, and i can get everything. this is a 3.55 ratio though isn't it? but it can take a 3.9?

What parts do you need? Im not sure how to work out diff ratios, its a 39 tooth like the old diff center i pulled out! does that mean 3.9 ratio?

Yes, get a JB large housing open centre and you should be able to swap the centre in.

Easiest way to pick between them, difference is the webbing around the drain plug.

Yes, I compared my JD one to a JA one of Daves and they were different lengths, just cant remember which was bigger
-JA Starion with JD bits , Forged engine, Heaps of mods (parked up)
-BFII XR6 Turbo Ute , Here comes 400hp for 2k :p
-77 Mazda 323 drag car. 13bt rotary project.

Yes i have too many toys.

Here in the states there is a difference in torque tube length depending on 5spd or slushbox.
FWIW.
