im looking for an eci unit

Post by idriftnaked707 »

hello everyone, i was wondering if the eci units that you guys have would be the same as mine 2.6 non-intercooled 83 starion(american) if they are similar i would like to buy one as a spare, here in america the 83 was the only year that had this eci unit. i dont have too much knowledge about the starions there in australia, so can someone also give me some info about the australian units used in each year??
thank you in advance
heres a picture of what mine looks like:

looks like our 1982 - 84 injection system found in all JA series 1 & 2

Heres an image of cordstaz's for comparison:

Powerplant: Chipped stock ECU, 2044cc, 8.5:1, head intake enlarged and polished, exhaust manifold enlarged,
Balance-shafts eliminated, Intercooled, TC06 @ 10psi, 2.5" high flow exhaust system and dump pipe.

mate they're INCREDIBLY hard to get in usable condition, they tend to leak out of the sides of the injectors where the wiring goes into the body of the injector, it then fills up the top cavity and pisses out the side of the injector hat where the external wiring comes out.. they're like rockinghorse shit to find, and once u pull em apart, even a good one, is when they start leaking, as u disturb the 25 yr old baked fuel affected rubber around the wires.....

all i can say is, if u do get one from someone here, dont pull it apart, as it most likely wont work again

nah ur not reading what i said properly, a rebuild kit wont fix them, the rebuild kit is for the seals around the injector and the hat/mixer etc, where they leak is out of the injector itself....

cheers for the kit info though :beer

only if u can get new injectors, or second hand ones that dont leak. neither of which are available in australia (new ones used to be able to be bought here from mitsubishi, but retailed around $600 each)

USA is a different story though

you would be better-off in the long run to get an Australian Magna multiport manifold. This has been used in the US on 2.6L staz.
