2nd favorite car?
No idea, but easy enough to make a GS look like a GSR, bolt on flair guards, get the standard wheels widenedan inch and you can still buy the badges brandnew, interior was slighty different so was the motor (lumpier cam and possibly different exhaust) and the bonnet had 2 scoops, thats about it really.bigd wrote:Yeah I have only actually seen two GSR's in the flesh. A dark green one that use to be in Dunedin about seven years ago when I was first at uni and had no money to be buying and a dodgy resprayed one up in Dargaville that needed too much work. Any idea how many GTO's in total were made in NZ?

My first car was a '92 Toyota Celica SX because it almost had the looks of what I really wanted at the time, which was a '91 Toyota Celica GT-Four Grp A Rallye. I'm in love with the curves on this car, and the rally history with Auriol and Sainz. I have driven a Targa prepared one, and also been passenger in a couple of examples, one which was pretty seriously modified.
In November I found myself a really clean '99 WRX instead, which I've also been terribly keen on (bang for buck wise), so I'm now trying to sell my Celica and kill off this loan. This is my Rex:

rainey where have you been mate?
I've say the Batmobile would have to be my other car of choice... Burton style though, not the new jumping tank thing.

^^^ my brother just bought a carlos group A celica, number 16 out of 2500 made worldwide, has a few mods, is white like the one in your pic! has really nice 17" 6 spoke speedline rims on it, identical to what the ST205 tarmac cars ran....
yeah i'll admit the starion's run a close second to the humble gemini coupe i have, maybe if the starion was about 300kg lighter the tables might be turned but!

I have a genuine set of original white OZ Racing Chrono 16"x7 wheels in my garage that I had on my SX, which I might be selling. I had always pictured them on a GrpA or CS and never had plans to get rid of them.redzone wrote:^^^ my brother just bought a carlos group A celica, number 16 out of 2500 made worldwide, has a few mods, is white like the one in your pic! has really nice 17" 6 spoke speedline rims on it, identical to what the ST205 tarmac cars ran....
Get your bro to jump on http://www.turbocelica.nl and get in touch with Meurz who is tracking all of the import CS models. I am the admin at http://www.grparallye.com where we are locating all of the 150 genuine Aus Delivered GrpA's.

yeah i'm pretty sure he already has. i believe they said his is the earliest known one in the world. he has also been talking to someone over in europe about getting an ex TTE carbon fibre airbox for his car....
so what the chrono's worth? they're the 5 spoke style like the castrol tarmac cars ran eh? he has some mazdaspeed MX5 wheels he needs to offload before he gets track wheels for this. he'll be doing events like gatton sprints etc in it.
[/derailment]
