Angles are good, so if you can make it with the same theme as the original car in mind, then do it! The last one looks quite good, but if you're going to put a front bar on, make sure it doesn't look too nose heavy...As in, make it look not too much lower than the sides...

You will have changed the lines from the side substantially - the front bar is going to sit up higher as you've deleted the front grille from under the headlights. So it may not be such a good look from the side...
Otherwise it looks great.
What would it look like with the grille in there?
Perhaps you could put the grille section back in and redesign it for funky new look...

Yup, 180 there on the silver one :)
Header panel is the bit between the headlights, i just thought there's a lot of new angles in there, pretty close to the bonnet scoop as well might be too much going on. But that's just me :)

and come on, we all love the bonnet scoopp.. i was actually thinkin of lowering it so the top of the scoop sits aligned with the top of the headlights (when down of course), and having the middle section lowered, so there would be smooth low areas between the angular headlamps and the bonnet scoop
i'll post up another picture after i've drawn it.. wait till i'm bored and high again.

sorry to rain on your parade matt g, but with that wing on you won't be able to open the rear hatch
i'm making a 3d model of a starion in my off time (not much of it unfortunately, so may be a while), so when it's done, i'll post up 3d pics.
if you guys like the look of the 'advanced spoilers' front bar, i don't see why a lightly updated look would hurt.
I don't like the whole flamboyant ricer thing with bits sticking out here and there, giant ass wings on civics that make the back of the car dip 3 inches lower than the front, ferrari badges on corollas (yes! I have seen more than one of these!), pulsars with cannons that you can hear a mile off, but won't see for another 10 minutes because they don't have the power to warrant the noise.. etc
but i think a tastefully updated look is a good thing.
