Small addition hereJD_Stazza_Brendan wrote:The JD intercoolers are mounted vertically like normal. Have never seen a horizontal one in a car, only in drawings in mitsubishi manuals.
My car was dead stock original and the cooler was mounted vertical.
JD also apprantly has the bigger diff and a smaller TC-05 turbo. The washer bottles in the front are also slightly different to suit the intercooler pipes.

also another rather important thing i just remembered the other day, is that the series 2 JA had the improved wiring harness, with thicker wiring and better connectors, basically the same as the JB stuff. series 1 JA has mostly black connectors in the engine bay around the eci throttle body, later ones were like a reddish brown colour.
improved wiring harness is another reason why a series 2 JA or later car is more desirable, they are a lot more reliable :beer

I posted a rather extensive list of all the Starion models in Japan and O.S . some time ago , if you do a search you should be able to turn it up .

You are right about 4 being bad luck in Japan as the pronunciation 'shi' is the same as 'death' .
But as I said , there was a GSR-IV . I've got pictures of them ( Redzone has seen them) , I've seen them on the road , I even got parts off of one .

This is my old car. Yes, it is a 1982 GSR-III Jap import. No rear spoiler as the Jap models didn't come with them. He means manual door mirrors. It used to have electric mirrors on the front fenders, hence the controls in the cabin. Plugs for mirrors are still in the engine bay. It originally came out with TC05, but seals went and it was easier/cheaper to replace it with a TC06. Black pillar vents are JD/Widey style ones.TomVR4 wrote:1992? do you mean 1982?. post some pics
