Nice pitty mate although they are not my kind of dog at all i use to own one.

I wrote in a story to my local hunting mag and it was published but cant find it atm so hes just a quick run down.

His name was Jet, a pitty aswell line bred. A big softie and sook at home but knew what his job was when out in the mountains.

I was on a hunt with my cousin 3 years ago when i had first started hunting with jet, towards the end of this hunt we had 36 all up in our 2 days hunting. We where up in qld on the paroo river and he had jumped off the ute and went off for a few klm's. Heard his barks and he was on :beer once we had got there some 15 minutes later we approached the boar and jet and our two other dogs hanging off the pig. This went on for a good two or three minutes before he shook the other dogs off. Jet never let go of a pig the 4 years he was hunting even though he had his fair share of battle scars. They then continued battling onto the edge of the river, holding hard and just as soon as we stepped in to dispatch the boar he was gone along with the boar. This happened in a matter of 5 seconds. He never let go and died doing what he loved, never let go even when the crock took him. RIP JET :beer

pic taken just before the crock took him

The loss of my best mate.

Post by WANTSOM »

A very sad day yesterday.

I had to have my Rottie Jordan (nickname 'Boof') put down last night.

His brain was still as sharp as ever but the 'ol back legs gave up on him after 9 years.

He was my best mate - a true, loyal, fearless, trustworthy fellow who was with me through marriage collapses, business splits and several home relocations. His friendship and unwaivering loyalty never waivered unlike some of my so called friends of the 2 legged kind did at the time.

I miss him. May he now rest in peace in a nicer world.

Greg I know your pain as I held my 4 legged mate of 16 years Jessie as she was put to sleep a year ago then sat down and cried like a baby(getting a bit misty eyed typing this )
She went to work with me every day and when she was in the back of my ute none of my workers that fed her at smoko would attempt to get anything out of it while she was there
I've had mine since 03 07 92
