if its given way between 2 cylinders then you won't see either water or oil leaks as there are no galleries betwen the cylinders.

Try changing the spark plugs.. My sparkplugs looked OK and was igniting, but the car would start, got new spark plugs and it started right away :) just a tip..

3 things for a car to run fuel compression and spark.By the sounds of it you have really gone over the car with a fine tooth comb .I think maybe a few more tests to just to double check these 3 things might show up a weekness somewhere. If nothing shows up can you log anything with your ecu? Good luck and let us all know what it ends up being.

What a bitch of a problem. Hope you sort it.

Don't know whether this is a clue, but you wrote:

I'm a bit concerned you've got a clear fuel filter, these cars being EFI, run high pressure in the fuel lines, meaning you should have an EFI type filter that can handle the high pressure. If you've been running with a standard filter, I have no idea how you managed to keep the lines connected to it, particularly on the inbound side.

You didn't recently change this? You don't have any fuel leaking? Something to check out...
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...
How?

the problem my be that it's not receiving the right signal from the dizzy,
so all the events are out of wack, try a different dizzy see if that works.
I've worked on this car befor and the wiring's a mess if it isn't the dizzy it
it could be anything.
cheers shaun.

yes get a timing light and see where it is firing when ur cranking it.

and that igniter looks like an early magna one. they usually are tough as nails.. maybe check your ecu isnt charging the igniter too hard??

It cant be spark as it throws a powerful blast (ask the guy from work this he will tell ya lol)
Its got great compression
Its got fuel (although i dont know how much)

I would change the dizzy with a spare ive got but the wires that go to the dizzy disappear into the shithouse wiring loom. It does seem that it might not be sparking at the right time. Gotta steal my timing light back from my dad.

All the spark side of the ignition seem to be perfect.

Its had new plugs put in. (even though the ones in the car were only 2 months old anyway)

pulled the lid off the LINK computer to see if there was any circuit board damage and it looks perfect, no broken solders, all capacitors in good nick.

Checked MAP sensor line for blockage

Cars booked into a workshop to be looked at and most likely getting the Link rewired. ive got about a week before i drop it off.

Im getting desperate, im driving a busted 2L sigma to work and it sucks

any idea if the leads are around the wrong way? Firing the wrong cylinder?

Seems like you have checked everything else though.

Where are you checking for spark? At the coil or at the plugs?

you sure u just didnt run out of fuel?

if u are sure u have plenty of fuel, im thinking its a fuel flow problem... had a similar prob on an old car a while back and it was a fuel hose that was blocked.

take the cross over pipe off, and see if it will run on something like start ya bastard(just for a sec) if it does then it will have to be fuel.
