i need another starion

Post by crshbndct »

so i sold my starion about 9 months ago. i sold it to get a bmw325i manual, e30, with very low kms in good nick.

and the bmw is, (compared to my really rough, dented, rough running, beat up starion with 240,000km) a far superior car. also suits me really well now that i have a little baby girl, and i need 4 doors.. but.....

its got no soul. i mean i have owned 21 cars, from a v8 commodore with 400hp, to a skyline, AW11sc mr2, all sorts.. and the bmw and commodore(which i own now) are great cars, but they are have no soul. they dont make you smile and want to give them a hug after a cane through some twisties. they do certainly go through the twisties very well and after you get back you're pumped up on adrenaline, but you look at them and go that is a good handling car. with my starion, i would look at it and get warm fuzzies.

it isnt logical, it doesnt make sense, it cant be explained, but once you have fallen in love with a starion, i guess nothing else comes close. other things may have more power, better handling(stock were talking about here) brakes etc, but all other cars are just appliances. they get you from a to b, some faster or more comfortably than others, but thats all they can do. the starion moves you.

i am selling ym motorbike soon and saving up some money so i can find a really nice low km's tidy starion, because not even getting my knee down on my bike makes me happy like that car did

call me crazy, call me dumb, call me weird, but i miss my starion like nothing i have ever owned, and i think about it nearly every day, at least once a week.

here are two that i am looking at:
the first is silver, but only has 74,000 km. looks to be in pretty much immaculate condition. has burgundy interior which is suck and has import motor (TC05) ($3500) also has LSD

the second is red ( my preferred color for starions), has has 2 owners since new, is nz new so has TC06, light grey leather(or is that vinyl) interior. has more km's at 112,000, but has been overhauled. guy wants $5500 for it.
is it worth $2000 more to get a decent colour interior, exterior, tc06, and better history? also has rays 3 piece wheels, but no LSD

whats with the indicators on the front gaurds of the red one??? and the tow bar???, both look very tidy but me I'd go the silver, spend some coin on sports seats, new carpet and spray the plastic bits. Is the silver one a JD? being factory intercooled and all?
Where will it end

You have to get the silver one. 40'000 kms less.

and Starions were made to be burgundy, embrace it.

Though you can probably get better advice from people on here who know a lot more than I do... I just think the silver one has a better vibe about it.

Dude I would fully buy that interior off you for good coin if you buy that one. My burgundy interior is tired. Give me a PM if you like. I was looking at that car online for a while. Looks to be good for the price.

Its euro spec. Note the front no plate holder that is long enough to house a silly long euro plate.

Go the NZ new (but then again I would be biased like that)!! :D :D

But both options are good and 40K difference in the km's makes no difference and you can easliy spend $2K changing things you don't like, so go with gut feel as to which suits your tastes better!!

You realise that only the front seats are leather. The rear seats and everything else is vinyl...
