Oil Pressure Sender is !@!#@#

Post by TD05 »

Last night I jumped in the car to drive it after it sat in the garage for 3 days, a block or so away from home, I realized the oil pressure was zero!!! I drove it back home while swearing/panicking at the same time, started checking everything, the motor didn't sound like it was running dry or anything.. looked underneath at the wire on the sender, fine, pulled it out, was oily cleaned it, nothing, measured the resistance from sender to ground, it was high (~50K), not knowing what a good reading was, I measured the volts on the wire from the gauge, around 12 volts, fine.. I started undoing the sender not succeeding, then out of the blue I just banged the sender with the spanner, a click was heard from inside the canister, measured the resistance again this time ~50 ohms, plugged the wire in again, started the engine and presto, oil pressure was up again.........

SORRy about the length, I had to get it off my chest, just in case it happens to somebody else,,, they'll know how to fix it.. :D

the JB has a gauge, it normally sits on 3/4, but that night it never moved, trust me you don't want to see that too often...

Mine has never worked
But this is likely due to the fact Im a moron, and havent looked for the oil sender connector which apparently falls off a lot.

My MAP sensor isnt working anymore either. It worked once for 20 minutes a few weeks ago.
