Squealing belts?

I have new belt on the front of my motor, all seem to be right tension, but they squeal when they are cold, not once the car is warmed up. They don't slip at higher revs either....
Any ideas?

Put some oil on them LOL (just kidding).

Check that its not a beraring somewhere that is on the way out.
Or you can get some anti belt slip spray, might help.

Well i thought one of the belts was loose but they don't slip at high RPM and they don't squeal once the cars warmed up.

Thought it could have been a pully bearing but once again it doesn't squeal when warm.

It only seems to be at start up and go away once warm. But once I get moving and the car is still cold it goes away and comes back at idle again :x

check tensioner bearings .. if all else fails a bit of a boot full will get the one thats stuck to loosen up :) lol

Did you replace all three? Alternator belt needs to be real tight, get a real long pipe in there to tension it. Also if someone has left the mounting bolt loose before it will slog out timing cover making it difficult to keep tight.

Yeah all three were replaced but it only squeaks/squeals at idle and only when cold this is what I don't get.....
All the belts are tight, i thought they might be to tight but got a mechanic to check them and they seem fine.....
Might drop it to my mate to have a look... only thing is by the time I get there the cars warmed up and doesn't do it anymore.....

this is a Kymco bug.... The repayments and amount I spend on gas on this is cheaper then running the starion!

I'm no expert on belts but they're not loose so maybe to tight then....

There's tight and there's real tight.
Real tight will wreck the bearings in the alternator very quickly.

You never know, your noises may just be coming from a bearing (could even be the alternator) and the noise goes away when it gets a load on it.
The alternator is a tear down job to check, meaning replace the bearings.

IF it pisses you off enough, take each pulley off one and a time, squirt some CRC or WD40, test to see if the noise goes away.

Could even be as stupid as a water pump starting to corrode up between the shaft and the housing.

One by one, you should be able to eliminate the noise to a particular part/bearing.

Yeah might try and take one of the belts off and see if it's the alt, powersteering or the waterpump....
