I was told the DASH engine redlined much above 6000rpm.

I hope this isn't another piece of information that is BS.

OMG! I completely lost my mind reading this thread. Funny shit. But seriously...I'm new to Starions. I take it the 3.55 that Al mentioned is from JAs and JBs? And the 3.9 is from JDs, but came in LSD form as well? So, what's the difference [driving wise] between the 3.55 and 3.9 open? I take it that the 3.9 LSD is unreal and heaps better than the open's due to the fact that they're apparently as rare as shit (actually rarer) and cost a shitload?

The 3.9 is excellent for city driving or red ligh drags if your into that thing.

Not so good for highway driving.

And yes, they are rare. Very rare.

Internationally you can get both 3.5 and 3.9 diffs in LSD or open. NZ JA/JB's had mostly 3.5 LSD's.

The 3.9 tops out at ~200KPH
The 3.5 tops out at ~230KPH

But naturally the 3.9 gives you a closer gear ratio set.

I have a 3.9 open diff, and I would say its much better than a 3.5 open diff. For example, how often do you drive over 200KPH? I'd rather the extra torque/acceleration. An LSD is tops, but if you have a 3.5 open, this 3.9 diff being sold here would be a good updgrade for a street Staz I reckon.
