injection issue
hey all,
my ja was having overfueling issues at idle...starting to get embarassing.
I had a talk to dave (redzone) and he suggested swapping over injection mixers...I had a spare in the shed, so i swapped em over...everything matched back up. All good.
Start the car, (starts, good so far) and the idle begins to creep up...it steadily creeps up untl it hits bout 2000rpm. I checked the throttle cable and it doesnt have any weight on it....I dunno, can anyone think of why the idle creeps up like that?
Any help would be greatly aprecciated

Have you adjusted the engine warm up pellet?
Does it still creep up at 1/3 engine temperature?

ummm...no, to be honest, i've got just about no experience with cars in general....kinda learn as you go. :)
Where exactly is this warm up pellet? and i didnt let it warm up to 1/3 engine temp...didnt like the 2100rpm idle. LOL

Ok
See the highlighted screw, start ur car and let it run a sec and then turn it counter clockwise, rpm should drop, adjust it to something like 1000 for warming up. Once temp hits operating level idle should return to whatever its adjusted to on the linkage which should be around 850 - 900rpm.
back of throttle body:

lol glen thats basically what they're supposed to do. except not quite to 2000 rpm, i think the spec is 1300 when dead cold, i'll check my manuals tomorrow for the exact rpm. i think u may not have had a starion with a working fast idle before! :beer

Thanks guys! wound the screw right out but its still idlin pretty high when cold (1800-1900 rpm). Goes down to bout 1000-1100 when warm, only thing is that the car wont hold engine temp while on the highway...could this be a faulty thermostat?

engine temp? in town, maybe just up to or above the first temp line, but on open roads its like its dead cold...and then the warm up idle starts to creep up again...lol

Agreed, I had a thermostat that I once removed, it was in 4 pieces just sitting there lol.
Get a thermostat thats about 76 degrees works great runs at about 1/4 most of the time and helps run cooler in the city and hot days.
No thermostst would definatley make the car run in constant warmup mode were it idles high and guzzles through fuel.
