I know it's a race car with more freedoms for mods than a road car but was just interested in what he had done regarding gearbox, engine mounts etc?
Thanks
I haven't spoken to him for a while. TurboZ on the MLR used an Evo head on our block. This got over the gearbox problem. I guess Neil has done the same.
Silbeer
Thanks for that. I like the look, but I also like the flatsides. Dunno what to do................

Im also curious about this mod!!! I tried to contact Neil via e-mail a few months ago but got no reply. I have an evo 4 head here and i just cant see how it could work.....
the head will bolt on fine, the water galleries will line up, but the oil galleries sit out about half an inch from the edge of the head!
now that is one hell of a project ........
i take my hat off to you , to undertake a project like this (bare shell) takes some balls , hope you complete it one day ...
flares???? not for me but each to their own
well done , now go back into the shed and work on that project
old skool jap ...........
there is no substitute...........
The final fit of the flares was done in Mandurah today along with the modification of the rio. stay tuned for the finished paint job in a few weeks as
i will get some pics up.
(P.S. Only four months till the Volk GT-C's Redzone    )
i drew this up a few years back. its a cross between my 84 and a pantera gt5
i started to build flares but abandoned the project because i didnt want to cut my fenders. i think it looks great with the right wheel/tire combo though.
basically what i did was take some sheet metal and clamp it inside the fender lip, draw a line on it so it followed the factory fender, trimmed it then extended it out a few inches so i had a shelf. then filled it with expanding foam and shaved it to match. I cant find my old pics of it though. The flare was wide enough for 275-315 tires, that was my plan anyways.
