My new Wide Body pics*** Updated pics***

Post by JAS »

As from the forum post http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=6868

I took these the first day I went to look at the car (love at first sight).
There not very good, but Ill take some more on a better day.

Its only done 48,350ks!!!!! And is really mint. Im getting some factory wheels for it as these ones are a bit small (15 inch). The only other things that aren't factory is the gear lever, its had a short shifter fitted, and the factory radio is missing. As its sooooo mint Im going to keep everything factory, So if anyone has a factory GSR VR radio they dont want, Ill buy it. Even if it doesnt work, Ill get it going :)

Nice :P
Computer games don't affect kids I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music :D

Looks like a great example...Jas. I like your attitude to keep it original and mint. :) Look on ebay....'worldwide' and 'US'
to get the original parts you're after...

SHP wheels were mainly available in the US, as the Jap road regulations didn't allow the 8" & 9" rims.
I think there was a hefty tax on the car if such rims were used.

Also, if the seatbelt tags show 12/89, then the car is almost certainly a 1990 model...probably numbered A187A5007?? plus!
I hope you don't get any prob's in getting it registered in a couple of years!!

I have the same car, but a 1988 model with the larger Jap optioned wheels.

Congrats! Looks great. Definitely get rid of those wheels. If you can't find an original radio, they can be found in Japan.

Do you want to sell the factory radio? Is it out of a GSR VR? And what sort of condition is it in?

And on another note, My starion has adjustable shocks??? Is that a standard thing on the GSR VR?

Its standard on 88/89/90 Starions. They are rebuildable also, go get the 88 Conquest manual and read over it. If yours are still firm then I wouldn't worry about it though

Chassis number is A187A 5000694... so im guessing its a 1989??? Going by the 94 part on the end Im guessing it was late 1989 as the seat belt tags sugguest. (they have 12/89 on them)
Still, Im soooo happy to have found this great car :D :D
Does anyone know how many widebody starions were sold in japan?
Oh and another thing... its got a cable clutch! Is that normal??

My first widey was #693 ;) Yes it is a December 1989 build (1990 model); there were about 850 sold in Japan. Highest number I have found is # 801.

Cable clutch???

those rims look like weds sports rims if thats the case they'll be really light (maybe 9 kgs) probbly a nice item to sell on to someone or keep to sling some track tyres over.
:)
How fast do those doorhandles go mate!

4g6beat,
Yeah man, there Weds Sports rims. 19 offset. With tyre they are 12kgs each :) Who ever fitted them put 25mm Weds Sport wheel spacers on too :) And there fitted with some nice Advan tyres. Not sure if Ill keep them. Guess they would be kind of hard to replace?

NXTIME,
So if its a 12/89 build date can I call it a 1990 starion?? Cause that would be super!!. And yes it has a clutch cable instead of a hydraulicly operated clutch. Whats up with that??
