ok i got a bit bored tonight so i decided to test how good my intercooler was at reducing air temp. I used a hairdryer and a digital thermometer with 2 temp probs, one for each end tank on the cooler. I had the hairdryer in one end anlong with a probe and the other was left open with a prob in it.
Degrees C
Time: Inlet Temp Outlet Temp
1 min 64.53 14.67
2 mins 82.78 15.32
3 mins 98.56 17.93
4 mins 104.61 18.96
5 mins 109.01 19.27

i got bored of watching about here so came back 6 mins later

11 mins 132.12 26.71
12mins 133.54 28.33
15 mins 134.01 33.71

i left it go until the outlet temp was 68 which took 22 min

as the intercooler was stationary it didn't have any air passing over the fins therefore i can only assume that it would have stayed around the low 20's had it been moving like on a car ,but having a 105 degree C drop in temp was pretty impressive for one of the cheaper intercoolers on the market.

that's an excellent way of testing a cooler I did the same a while ago and was surprised at the temp drop, but don't forget that the turbo will be pumping at least 7 psi or more which is a bit more than the hair dryer can manage, so i guess the temps will be a bit higher in real life..
