Old cars are like old men

Post by OLD FART »

There is always something that needs fixing .
Took the car to a dyno to see if all was ok with the new turbo and the first run showed a rich AFR then on the second run it suddenly went lean which suggests either a partly blocked filters or a pump on the way out  :x
Am in the process of removing the pump and what a bugger of a job that is and don't understand why the panel in the boot wasn't made longer to make removal easier  :x
Just another character building exercise.

Good attitude!

Cut the boot floor and extend the fuel pump cover to make life easier next time you have to get in there. I'll post a pic of mine if I can find one.

Just put a mechanical (belt/hex drive) pump in the engine bay, easy fix!

That's exactly what I did :D
So it should be easier to get the Bosch 044 back in place.
But seeing the tank is all but out have decided to get it cleaned as well and hopefully that will be the end of my fuel problems for quite some time to come .

Aaron you have seen my very crowded bay and I have difficulty getting my hands in to fix/adjust things and don't want any more bits in there.
For my education and others exactly how big is this pump :? Pics/part # would be great :)

PS it goes without saying that there will be new filters (I have 2 in line filters ) being installed when it all goes back together

Maybe.....................

There are a few brands out there.

The cheapest we sell is $562.50 RRP inc gst, it has -10 AN in & out & is rated at 1500hp.

They go up from there.

That is just for the pump though. Mind you it's not hard to make a bracket to mount it to your Timing Gear etc.
