Drags 23/10/10

Post by avandull »

I went to the drags today at the "LAFM Dragway" near Launnie. I've only just gotten home because I was there well into the final elimination rounds. I think I placed around 3rd?

My best time was 12.607 seconds at 189.56kph (117.8mph).

Needless to say the old Starion was turning a few heads! Will photograph the slip and upload it as soon as I get one of those round to-its. :D

Thanks guys.
I was feeling nervous about the standard gearbox exploding and not being able to get home. Time to buy a car trailer. Then 30 psi. Should be in to 11s then.

I have not had it on the Dyno since I turned up the boost.
It was making 200Kw at 16 PSI. I turned it up to 25 PSI at the drags.

Specs:

VR4 head and block (2 Litre)
Balance shafts removed, everything that rotates was then balanced
8.5:1 Aeries forged pistons
Eagle rods
ARP Head and Mains studs
ACL race bearings and head gasket
KKR430 Turbo
3 inch exhaust
Haltech E6K computer
RC 750cc fuel injectors
Bosch 044 fuel pump
TiAL 38mm is external wastegate
XF falcon throttle body
600x300x100 inter-cooler with 3 inch pipe
NA galant intake manifold
Exhaust manifold made in my shed
Extreme 5 puck button clutch with custom 1000Kg pressure plate
Adapter plate made in my shed(its a good shed)
Standard Starion gearbox(don't know how it holds together)
3.9:1 LSD (from New Zealand)
Standard 14 inch rims with Bridgestone RE55 race tyres
Toyota Tarago coil on plug (It works extremely well to 30 PSI)
Turbosmart BOV

ahhh bugger, I think I have spent too much on this heap of shit.

I will get it on the dyno soon and smash 30 psi in to it and see what it does.
