You may remember that I had a problem with the car running poorly and missing on 2 cylinders and after much testing including sending the E6X back to Haltec ,new,coils,plugs,leads ,relays etc etc that it turned out to be 2 injectors that I thought had shat themselves so in with NEW 780 Siemens and after driving to and from as well as competing in both Leyburn & Pittsworth sprints The problem has reared it's ugly head again :x
Had the mobile injector cleaner out today and the 780's at 100% DC were flowing app 440cc .and that was the best one so it turned out that the micro filters were clogged with crap after app 1500k's so I also had the 800 Sards tested and cleaned as they were exactly the same. I pulled the filter and it was very dirty after app 4000k's
I have drained the tank and installed a new inline filter so hopefully it will be smooth sailing now
Am intending to drain the tank again and thinking of installing a second inline filter closer to the rail

Rad, having thought a bit more about what happened, after our phone conversation this arvo. I would be flushing and cleaning everything! The regulator, fuel rail, lines etc.
Do you run paper filters, or the russel/speedflow style mesh fuel filters?

I was told it was essential to have a high pressure fuel filter in the engine bay close to the fuel rail to filter out any impurities that may be released from the entire plumbimg system. The 'dirt' can come from the tank, pumps(s), steel fuel line, rubber hoses & the fittings themselves. You almost need to have everything clinically clean like an operating theatre.
Also I'm told that some servos have cleaner underground tanks than others. I know of an example here where the local garages were making a fortune out of cleaning injectors from customers who had all bought fuel from the same service station.

I have done things in the following order
1 drained tank
2 removed filter in engine bay and injectors for cleaning
2 disconnected fuel line near tank
4 blasted compressed air thru line to filter spot

6 connected bottle to fuel line
7 turned ign on to flush petrol thru lines from tank
8 installed new filter
9 connected line from filter to rail
10 installed injectors
11 started engine and alls well again

Ask the service station attendant when the tanks were last filled, because that stirs up any sediment. Not sure how long it takes for that sediment to resettle on the bottom, I would assume 3-4 hours.
Also, what did the Injector guys clean your injectors with? I assume he just ran straight ethanol through it till if finally starting spraying its spec'd fuel rate.
Lastly you always run premium dont you? I know Vortex 98 contains specific injector cleaning detergent so you may want to switch to that permanently.
You could have seriously blown your engine running that lean. :(

and he does a thorough job . he tests then for spray pattern then tests at 100% DC to measure flow next they are ultrasonicly cleaned new micro filters fitted and finally flow tested at max DC to check the result and supplies new O rings
Docile I run PT5 in my fuel every fill BUT the problem will still exist no matter what brand of fuelor cleaner is used as it is the microscopic particles that can pass thru the fuel filter is the crap that is caught by the micro filter in the injectors that ends up restricting flow

plus vortex makes less power than BP or shell 98..

I have now installed a Bosch filter after the new Ryco as additional protection
The Bosch filters down to 4 microns and the Ryco is a 15 micron filter.
I have tested the fuel flow before and after installing the Bosch and while this is not an accurate test I cranked the motor for 15 seconds each time and there semed to be little if any difference in the flow into the drink bottle as it came up to the same mark as the single with the 2nd filter in place.
It flowed 500 mm in 15 seconds. Dont know what the pump is but it was supplied to me as the one that was used for racing and unfortunately it is one of the few things I on't have in my files :( :x
