Well here we go. Here i'll keep you all updated on it's progress from smokey runner to strip warrior

I purchased this about 2 weeks ago from a mate who used it for circuit racing and a daily. Plans are to strip it out, cage, 26 x 8.5" full slicks, twin cam head, ems, Indy Blues, E85 etc. Hopefully will have it all running and competitive by Jambo next year.

The car has sat for 3 years and not moved, it hadnt been started for about 2 years. Today stage 1 began, by my warming it up, dropping the oil and filter. I put in an oil flush and 4l of diesel oil, ran the car for about 20 mins, then changed it and the filter again and put some 10w40 back in.

Than I gerni'd it and put it down in the garage so I can start stage 2, stripping the car down so it can go off to get the cage done and motor out.

Below are the pics of it sofar.

Thanks mate.

I'm just in St Andrews, so you will probably see me round. The rest of the time, look for the Burson's Ford Ranger with the ANDRA sticker on the back window.

When I was going through the car today, I found the reciept for the new gearbox & diff that went in it. Also the receipt from GCG for the Hi-Flow they apparently did on the turbo. Took me about an hr to get the Haltech to read the 02 sensor, the wiring just wasnt right. Wish I had the software and cable to have a look at the tune. No big deal, the ECU will be coming out soon anyway.

Gotta pull the radiator out this week, so I can give it to ADRAD for them to make me an alloy radiator.

Yup! Aggresive stuff. Works like an "engine-flush".

Noted, thanks mate.

Diesel oil has a higher concentration of detergent in it, to help with the ash created by burning diesel. Its a good alternative to a flushing oil, that no-one sells at a resonable price in aus.

Most people say its a waiste of time, but since the car had sat for 3 years, I though to err on the side of caution.

Sent my Version 7 Dual Sport back to ems for a check, software upgrade etc today, also ordered a new loom.

Also bought a forged VR4 long motor today off a mate, got it for a steal. So it savs me rebuilding & converting the SOHC motor.

Sounds like this has the potential to come together quickly.
I'm a fan for the drags myself and be watching this build up closely. :D

Who's going to be tuning the EMS DualSport?

Depends on how quick the cash dries up!

Rocco Tamburello has allways tuned my cars, so he will get 1st shot.

Here is the Jap Spec VR4 long motor I bought for the staz.

I got two manifolds with the motor. The 1st one is a cyclone dual runner unit and the second one is a std VR4 unit.

i think the cyclone intakes ARE the vr4 ones.. the eci multi are the non-turbo intakes?

the Aus spec and US Spec VR-4s had those N/A manifolds for some reason.

can I open a can of worms? Has anyone ever tested the effectiveness of the cyclone intakes over the n/a ones?
