Really? Whats the difference between the vr4 and evo 0 ones> This just came with a vr4 head i bought.
Evo 0 says 'ECI MULTI' and 'Turbo Intercooler' while standard VR-4 says 'CYCLONE' and 'Turbo Intercooler' - both are the dual runner 'cyclone' system intake. N/A ones either say nothing at all or 'ECI MULTI' and are single runner.
Close, but not quite.

Aspec VR4 - ECI Multi
Jspec VR4 prefacelift - Cyclone Turbo Intercooler
Jspec VR4 postfacelift - Cyclone Turbo Intercooler, 92's say "ECI Multi Turbo Intercooler"
Monte Carlo Special Edition - ECI Multi Turbo Intercooler
Super VR4 - ECI Multi Turbo Intercooler
"Evo 0" - ECI Multi Turbo Intercooler

There is absolutely no difference in any of these plenums btw. None whatsoever. Just the casting on the top as to what it says. You can also get one off a sonata.

Well have one spot left the size of a fingernail left to sand now then rear quarter bodywork is done.
Got drivers side rear suspension in yesterday, albeit only loosely mounted the disc and calliper as discs wil be replaced, and calliper rebuilt, and looks a million times better. Hopefully should perform better too :)
So today i got to stripping everything out of the interior that im not gonna need - so thats pretty much the lot haha. Was about 5 miles of stereo wires too most that werent in use. Gonna be some gd weight savings :) Pics tell the story:

WTF? That's more or less exactly what I said.. I wouldn't know what an A-spec one says as I'm not in Australia. Monte Carlo *is* an Evo 0. Pre-facelift Super VR-4s say CYCLONE not ECI MULTI. N/A ones certainly aren't the same casting as VR-4 manifolds. And I've never seen a '92 non evo VR-4 so can't confirm of deny if they have ECI MULTI or CYCLONE.

*hits head on wall*. Yes they are identical in specifications given they are an Evolution model of the VR-4, just a road going celebratory model with leather interior etc. The RS in facelift came in both Evolution and non-Evolution models too. Also Mr Smarty pants, you failed to mention the AMG inlet manifold which is totally different from any other VR-4 or N/A Galant in your little speel. You aren't the only person in the world to live and breath Galants ya know.

This is about Lunacy's Starion here, not bickering over a VR-4. I said originally his inlet manifold was from an Evo 0 which was true. End of story.

Well been awhile as wife an I have just spent 2 weeks on our honeymoon in Thailand, so finally got back into the shed yesterday.
Its time for old SOHC 4g63t to come out in preparation for the new DOHC one to go in :)
New engine bits will be off to the builders as soon as my new clutch and flywheel insert arrive, so i can have it all balanced properly.
Basic rundown on the engine is:

Starion 4g63 block, bored, decked, crack tested and painted
Mahle oversize forged pistons
Eagle forged rods
Arp head and main bolts
ACL race main and rod bearings
Polished and modified crank
4 Layer metal Mitsi OEM head gasket
BSE and modified oil pump
New tensioners, timing belt and idlers
Fidanza flywheel
Spec stage 3 clutch
Standard rebuilt head (just to get her up and running :)
Modified DSM cyclone inlet manifold, Ford TB and yet to be decided injectors.
Custom topmount exhaust manifold
TD05 20g MHI turbo
EMS Stinger ECU

While the engine bays empty, will be cutting off all mounts that i wont be needing, filling holes that wont be used, before priming and painting the engine bay.

Heres a few pics of the stripdown:
Image
Starting to get it all out
Image
All sorts of buildup in the thermostat housing
Image
Parts everywhere :)
Image
Gearbox, struts, mounts, lights all out - only steering and engine left

More to come soon :) (pics of all my new bits :)

Lots of work happening there! You talked about cutting down weight, what's the cars intended purpose on completion?
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...
How?
