Gormzz's Stazza..!
righteo guys!
got a starter motor of a 89 2.6l astron magna today.. they are a little longer in this model.. but JUST clears the engine mount.. once fitted its not to bad to take back of etc.. hooked her all up.. and on first turn she started! few turns she was good.. but then my battery lost charge.. so i am still in need for a new one as its way far gone.. but besides that it should be going for a roady soon!! so excited now.

righteo, so starter motor has been put in as already stated.. car still doesnt like to turn over first go though.. starting to think its a fuel problem. dropped fuel from bung in tank today and put in fresh unleaded 98 w/ nulon lead replacement. noticed the colour of the fuel which came out was nearly brown which looks like possible rust in tank.. when i can SOURCE a damn fuel filter for this car for under $50?! then i will replace them and pull my injectors out to blow them out of any rust/carbon buildup etc.. was hoping to get rwc this week so hopefully car will play nice for me..

oh is there? hmmm.. i need to source one asap so i can go for roady wed/thur.. hopefully this fixes the issue.. tested to see if fuel came out metal line from tank and rear filter.. (not hooked to manifold or engine bay filter) and it poured out like crazy.. so its either the engine bay fuel filter or injectors are fouled.. cause its like the fuel aint getting to the car so it starts first go.. like you gotta prime it or something...

no need for the fuel filter mate, thanks anyway.
got one local after a few call arounds.. found one that fitted and replaced the one in the engine bay below the intake manifold. fuel upon ignition turned to on was pouring out like crazy when the fuel filter was off.. so assumed it was blocked.. now its been replaced the car starts usually first go now and runs a bit better! i'm still going to pull out injectors and give them a good clean down as i assume they are the originals from 30yo's ago.
on a side note.. car went in... got rwc and then rego yesterday!! i got my opens today which means i could drive it also! everything has come together and i been driving it a bit today.. there is still things i want to sort out.. and obviously more power but certainly a great starting platform with plenty of looks from people ;). Will be respraying the primered drivers guard asap and boot and bonnet.. as they next on the to - do list.. then its onto the drivetrain and motor :D.

pulling the injectors out will probably make them leak out the side where the wiring comes out of the injector body (not the mixer assembly)
you're better off getting a good quality injector cleaner put through the tank a few times..

ohh righto. what would be a good injector cleaner brand? i would prob just get some from autobarn.. but yeah i was unsure whether or not it would be strong enough to work.. hence the full on pulling apart and cleaning out of the injectors.

There is a few photos.. took them just before to test out camera.. will get some more day time shots.. Plans for this weekend is to "hopefully" paint the guard and drop the tailshaft and replace uni next week, also will do checks on diff oil etc when tailshaft is back in and i can drive it to work to get onto a hoist. (My shed really needs some space as you can see...
Other project.. put on hold.. and will need to put sunroof back on so i got room to put staz on jack stands and get underneath her.

Alrighty.
Guard with primer on it.. is now highfilled and ready to be blocked down, paint and cleared! So im waiting on weather to get sunny so i can do this..!
On the other hand the staz is on stands awaiting a replacement tailshaft or alike.. I really hope this sorts the issue and isn't the torque tube shot.. from what i've heard if i want to get into drifting its been said that by removing the torque tube and running a solid tailshaft to the diff would be a better option, thoughts on this? Also will need to get that exhaust replaced earlier then later as its got cracks in the dump pipe and i think thats where my exhaust leak is coming from. So those two will be the next on the agenda.. but once car is driveable again it will be driven for a bit until i get more parts and then put back in the garage to put on the new goodies.. such a better way to do it instead of just leaving your car off road for ages and not driving it each time with a new mod and feeling power difference etc.
Anyway thats where i am at!

Bollocks! This guard which was previously prepped is honestly one of those things you can't just get right. Just at the point of highfilling it and painting it as i cbf with it anymore and just want it to be the same colour as the rest of the car.. Will probably respray the whole car in the future.. so i can care about it more then. For meantime its just getting its colour back. Finishing that off as we speak, still awaiting tailshaft as my daily is having issues.
From there i will get the exhaust done, intake pipe w/ apexi pod sorted and up the boost a tad to see if any noticeable difference in spool time and torque.

Alright got the guard in best condition i could get it, painted it and cleared it. Turned out ok i guess.. Car will be getting a proper full respray in the future hopefully.. when i decide what colour i want to go fully.
Also recieved my tailshaft from redzone on friday.. thanks buddy! Fitted her up and has solved that issue. I'm not sure if its just me or possibly if theres still a slight bit of noise from the rear... im either putting it down to the torque tube or the diff.. Thoughts on what is a more common thing to break?
Least shes all together now and i can drive her for the meantime and start properly getting more power out've her and fixing up dud areas on the car.

if it has a clunk on gearchanges etc it could be the drive flange between the rear of the torque tube and the diff pinion, it is splined, and the grease it is packed with when new gets old and forced out, or some idiot cleans it off the surfaces when r&r'ing the diff or torque tube
