Yes I agree. Actually with the Camtech 709A-114 cam my car made exactly the same power as stock until we retarded it.

Maybe somebody forgot to reset the timing after you moved the cam :D

Perhaps the advice should be adjust the cam to where it works the best :P
Gee that sounds like common sense, oh maybe I need a drink :S

as stated before, that thing had the cam timing and ignition timing set to just about EVERY combination possible, and where it is now is the best possible result...................................................................................

power was halted by detonation, as we said, the only way to get more power out of it is by using better fuel! something to do with the combustion chamber shape is causing it to ping on only around 15 degrees of ign timing at full power...

would have rather have prepped the head myself but that was the only aspect of the engine build NOT done by me! :beer

bought off a friend of mine second hand, its the turbo that was on the white BBYZLR GTIR pulsar that was featured in speed magazine a couple of years ago, my mate bought that car, upgraded it to a GT2876R, then stuck the car thru a fence at kunda park!

it came without tags so we dont know what exactly it is.. it APPEARS to be a GT2871R by my calculations, but could be a mongrel :)

If it is a GT2871R, 450Hp at the Flywheel from about 18-20psi is all you should be getting

I still reckon your about 60Hp atw short somewhere though, like intake manifold or cylinder head flow, which would mean you needed the Stage 4 cam.......as I doubt you would gain that extra power from another 5-10 degs of timing under full boost.......I'ld bet on the intake manifold keeping you back, short fat runners with a large plenum have been the old and true design with Forced induction....but yeah, the whole setup is not 100% optimised yet, hahaha, here was Kit saying that the Engines finally finished.....more like jinxed himself LOL

i didn't built this car for racing it i have spent over $70,000 on it Redzone built it to my specs its acheived more than i wanted in power, reliabillity is my main issue if i wanted to track race it i wouldn't of put all of the interior or audio in it, or spent the money on paint but yet i can park next to a gtr or supra or Rx7 and still feel comfortable in what i have chosen.

I'm not trying to big note myself but i am trying to keep the starion alive i am not saying mine is better than every other starion on the road i still get an erection when i see another starion. What i am saying is i am trying to acheive something that no other starion is acheiving, a show finish eg going to the autosalon with the starion i am not elagible for a prize because my car is prior 1986 but i still pay my money to enter to keep the starion alive. Shortly i'm spending another 10-15k on paint i want to change the colour.

Dave from redzone has made this car happen i have taken my car into other shops and they have treated my car like shit (its only a starion not a GTR as they are thinking) dave treats my car unbelievable i don't trust my car with many peolpe because of previous mechanics. Dave has achieved every thing i have asked.

Cheater said the other day what is my claim to fame well this it i don't own a dirty old woman's sigma. :beer rofl

For fuck sake i just want to buy a house.

well if we use the rule of thirds it works out to be about 430 horsepower at the fly... so that`d be about right.. but now i`ve probably started a war on whether the rule of thirds is a load of shit or not!

i dont know about being short 60hp at the wheels, i mean we were aiming for 300 but we cant be too unhappy with 286 i mean ffs thats pretty close!

it`ll definitely pick up more power with more ign timing, look at the wobble in the graph around the peak reading, thats a telltale sign it doesnt have enough! i think we`d be over 300 just by giving it another 2 degrees..

I've read a lot of arguments here and there, but in general saying 33% drivetrain loss is a big call......feel free to prove me wrong by putting it on an engine dyno, whilst Gary gets the car re-sprayed :beer

Drivetarin loss seems to be more of a fixed amount of HP loss, think of it as theres only so much friction a part can put on the Engine to restrict power, so add all these parts up and you have your total power loss, this loss increases only so little when pushing very high HP.

The only way power loss has ever been measured in a gearbox and differential has been by the increase in temperature of the oil used. So when changing oils, if the temperature drops, you should see a net gain of power
