Yes, the bottom end is forged, shot and balanced, the top end is manley ss swirl polished valves and double valve spring with close to 1/2 valve lift and 290 duration cams, but low comp, only 6:1, HKS split pulse exhaust manifold, different to the factory split pulse, the turbo and the exhaust manifold was ex group team stock, a wideband O2 sensor and data logging helps the tuning

I am very impressed with what you have done with your Starion, John. Definitely have done things differently to most and the fact that the car goes very hard is testament that there isn't anything wrong with the good ol' SOHC.
Will be interested to know the power and torque figures it make, and of course, what it can do down the 1/4 mile :D

it has been a lot of years since i have done any of these calculations, before the internet, a lot of books, i found a website that basically follows what i had said, this may be useful to other people.

Engine VE: Engine Volumetric Efficiency in percent. VE changes with engine RPM, a engine at wide open throttle at 3000rpm could have a VE of 90% and at 6000rpm 60%. This is a rough guide. At maximum RPM modified engines may have a better VE, eg: average overhead valve engines 45% to 75%, overhead cam twin valve 65% to 80%, four valves per cylinder 75% to 90%.

I pull the gearbox out tonight, found the clutch plate has disintegrated
it brought back some memories, the flywheel had had about 6kg removed from it, i put back the old solid center clutch plate back in, the pressure plate in the car was a BMW M3 pressure plate, the bolt holes are the same as a Starion, the dowel pins need to be re-drilled, the standard Starion clutch has 1440 pound clamping force, the M3 standard has 1850, they change change the diaphragm in the and take the to 2400 pounds
the flywheel diameter has reduced down to the same as the pressure plate and the ring gear width has been reduced
the back of the flywheel has been machined out
while i had the gearbox, it gave me a chance to take a photo of the bottom of the exhaust manifold, this was a genuine HKS split pulse manifold
