Check out this Mint 12 valve Dash Sigma.
personally, i like the second gen 380.. the first gen one looks a bit too bland for me.. as if mitsu was just putting their toes into the water to see how cold it was..
was thinking that when i "grow up" and have a family and a need for a 4 door car, I wouldn't mind a second gen awd 380 to mess up.. twin turbo 3.8 v6.. hmm, sounds familiar..
awd tt 380 vr4 anyone? lol

Well, you and I, oh and Noddy are the only ones on here right now, but I'll respond right now with a resounding "Yes!"

DG (or anyone else who might know),
Do you know what auto gearbox these turbo Eterna's used? Would it be the same box as the FWD Sigma's in NZ used? I'm converting my bum dragger (cordia turbo) to auto for daily motorway use (I've got a manual Starion for my fun car) and are looking for an autobox that would handle the power. I've just purchased an auto GSL cordia for parts but have been told the autobox won't handle the power and I should try something like a magna auto.
Could purchase this Eterna for it's box but would be a real waste and shame to strip it just for that.
thanks
martin..

it's the KM175, same as the FWD Sigma, but perhaps slightly beefed up a little.
I honestly don't know why you would bother though... making a cordia turbo an automatic? it's going to kill whatever fun those cars are, why don't you just use the auto GSL as the daily driver? or better yet, buy another cheap econo shitbox auto which will use very little gas doing its commuter duties.
or why not just use that Eterna auto as the daily?

The hard tops have a slant nose like above while the normal sedan has a nose similar to the wagon, and the front guards and doors are about the only panels which will swap over, everything else is different.

1985 Mitsubishi Magna a "bucket of pus"?.
...sounds like something this Toyota nut I have to work with would say.He raves about his 2005 corolla...Hoo boy LOL
If you do you history you will find it received 1985 Wheels "car of the year award."
Couldn't have been too bad...I think everyone knows someone who owned one

Starion-an 80's Classic car
Thanks DG :beer ,
I'm keeping/using the Cordia Turbo for historical/sentimental reasons.
The misses has told me I have too many cars and one needs to go, and since I ain't getting rid of any of my toys the Station Wagon is going. She only drives auto's hence the need to convert one of them, I'll keep the manual bits so it can be changed back again in the future if required.
I've driven auto turbos in the past and they have still been fun, so an auto cordia turbo shouldn't be too bad.

a lot of car reputations come from their owners' abuse.
yes, i know a couple of people who owned a magna of that shape. they were all stingy as f^%k. Never serviced properly. Most service points were missed, and the once in a year that they did go in for a pink slip check, they'd tell the mech they'd be back in a couple of months for that service.. and then wouldn't go back until the next pink slip check.
Considering that, I think the cars ran quite well. When they'd finally die, the owners and their families would spread the word "yeah it's a mitsubishi.. i should have known it wouldn't last very long".. except one of them i know went on for 12 years like that.. guy drove it, then his son thrashed it, and it finally blew.. after 12 years of hard labour.. poor thing.
that said, i don't care what people say, a mid sized or bigger fwd sedan can never be "sporty", no matter how many ralliart or sportivo stickers you put on it, or how many killer wasps it has.

I don't mind FWD too much but they don't have their place really being in a large sedan trying to tow a boat out of the water up a ramp for instance.
my daily driver is a 90s Galant with a high revving 200hp non turbo V6 with a 5 speed box and large brakes from the factory, all I've done to it is lowered it on new shocks and it drives quite well, very chuckable through the corners and that engine note never gets tiring. Some FWD sedans can pull off the sport status I feel.

engine note is an entirely different story.. but don't you think your fwd sedan would be 'sporty-er' if it was rwd? or even awd?

I prefer FWD, and in the end, it's much of a muchness unless you are at the track.
A 'sporty' car on the open and restricted roads for me, is something with decent torque to get me to speed whilst being comfortable and easy to handle.
That being the case fwd, rwd, awd doesn't really come into it.
I was told my magna would be an absolute pig given what I did to it.
But I find it easier to drive now rofl
And yeah DG, panels, headlights and side lights are all that will fit, need to widen the bumper and nose panel, but that's all. *bonnet is the Magna bonnet*

Thrash depending on how long it takes you to "grow up " the rare TMR supercharged 380 ( that was produced as a rival for sc Camry/Aurion ) might be the way to go. ADR approved so no worries with emissions etc
Sprintex have a kit especially for 380's if that kind of thing rocks your boat

how the hell can you actually PREFER FWD? just curious.. FWD is so incredibly uninspiring to me, i've driven a few well set up ones, and owned one (an N14 SSS that did 15.5's) and it just feels like you're raping grandma's car if you ever take em into some twisties. you feel so insulated, and knowing the physics of what those front tyres are being asked to do (provide drive and steer at the same time) just puts me off...
also the more power you have, the less you can use it...
ps the local magna's reputation comes from a highly irregular build quality, much the same as what the camira suffered from...

Camiras that brings back this true storey Rod Browning an ex Holden Precision driver, rally driver & rally, defensive & advanced driveing instructor so he can steer a bit told me that during his precision driving days they were at a Camira launch and there was a current model v8 commodore there for comparson purposes the Camira spanked the v8 in the handleing course BUT the c/dore was more fun
Dave you need to drive a Clio cup/sport as it will cream most cars around the twisties
