Top stuff Greg, I'm keen to see some details about the brake upgrade too.

Had to smile at this:

Once I started my build, I quickly realised there was no point keeping tabs on how much I was spending and, once you realise your car just isn't quick enough, you just keep on spending rofl

Not long finished building a 4 star chookhouse for the 3 "girls " Thelma Anne
Louise with the understanding (lt least it was mine ) that it was the last job/thing she wanted so I could spend more quality time on the JB Now the latest must have thing is apparently a vegie garden .Dred to think of what will be next after the VG is finished

What happens is this, you clear the land, dig the holes for the plants, buy the plants, cart them home, plant them, ferterlize them and water them but its the vege garden she built LOL

Here's round 2.

I was going to do suspension and brakes this time but will delay that till after the weekend and I get some fresh photos, so instead this is the motor part.

We started with semi dismantling the motor in the good donor car (simply coz Cookie and I were bored at the time and felt like ripping the head off) -
Image

This is the intended donor motor out of the smashed car. This was a DASH head on what was thought to be a good bottom end run by a Haltech ECU and was known at the time as a genuine 150kw motor. It needed a clean up.
Image

Which is what it got
Image

but then gremlins set in trying to get it run and after a lot of perserverance I gave up and got a Multi point manifold made by Buckley St Autos, went with twin coil and MSD CDI ignition set up. This combo still didnt want to behave and we had all sorts of problems getting it to tune up properly so I bit the bullet and bought a bottome end of Nxtime which was brand spanking with all the good bits and Merlins good DASH head (he was doing his TC conversion so was happy to part with it). Still tuning issues with this and after a LOT of dyno time with MRB on the case we found the Rochester injectors just didnt like to play in this set up. A switch to Bosch injectors immediately cured all the issues and wallah we had a 175 kws at the wheels at 16lb boost. We were running a TD06 (hi-flowed) turbo at this stage with a small 450 intercooler so were a bit restricted with what we could boost to. This is the photo of the finished motor as it was then.
Image

Since then we have changed the turbo to a GT Pumps TD05 16G, added a bigger intercooler and bigger (2 and half inch) piping. Injectors have also been upgraded to Siemens 610's and now running 20lb boost for 200kws atw. The power steering is gone and been replaced by the Scorpion box conversion which is a great way to go and doesnt affect on track feel or response. This was after the little incident at Eastern Creek when a broken ps line sprayed the turbo and exhaust with fluid. Thats now all fixed.

This is how it looks today with the 16g installed

The engine setup looks great, can't wait to see the twin cam setup give how much attention to detail you have.

Twin cam is under construction atm. Should have it back from the builder later this week or next. He is building the bottom end and bolting the head down then I have to install the cams, lifters and cam wheels and all the ancilliary stuff. :o

Hope to have it installed and running by July

Vulpes, welcome to come any time. Busy this weekend but if you want to roll out to Oran Park on Sunday I'll be running in a supersprint and should have a lil blue furry fella pitcrewing for me.

Otherwise just let me know a day and drop in. :beer

Always been a fan of this machine man, good to see a writeup of it finally! :)

Hows Marie's old car doing these days? Still one of the best looking starions even imho, that pic Hoongirl took of it in motion is just pure car porn.
