Engine finished dyno results
Well this all very well and good but I am still disturbed by the thought that Gary was walking around in front of us with a woody when he was in Sydney. F*ck the horsepower debate, how do you explain how he could do that and we didnt notice. Huh? :o
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.
Re: Cams
Tricky problem that one. Could be exhaust manifold back pressure? Not sure what size turbine you have however it seems to spool pretty well.redzone wrote:
power was halted by detonation, as we said, the only way to get more power out of it is by using better fuel! something to do with the combustion chamber shape is causing it to ping on only around 15 degrees of ign timing at full power...
would have rather have prepped the head myself but that was the only aspect of the engine build NOT done by me! :beer
Maybe go a touch bigger with the turbine housing? Chris Colliers 300HP run used a big turbo with not much down low.
Maybe that's the secret I think these 2 valve engines like low exhaust manifold back pressure to make the big numbers.
Depends what you want I guess?
I'm a big believer in big runners and big turbos myself.
The GT30 on mine has a 0.82 rear. Even with stock eveything it's on full song in the low 3s.
A mate of mine has a new Forester XT 2.5, he's running a tiny little turbo at 19psi and when I look at the factory manifolds I have a panic attack.....:)

DAVE all this discussion about Garys little problem reminds me of a quote by a 1930s movie sex goddess 2 one of her many lovers "Is that a gun in your pocket or you just happy to see me " rofl rofl

shit i`m not touchin that one with a 10 foot pole or this thread will top 9 pages!
p.s. toys i agree with u on the driveline loss thing, i reckon gary`s car is making somewhere around the 380 hp at the flywheel mark, it isnt unreasonable to think the combination capable of that!
And as far as it not making as much snort as the turbo is capable of, as i said, we still dont know what exactly that snail is, all i know is that it made 220kw at the wheels in a gtir pulsar running 23 psi boost, gary`s car is making 211kw at the wheels, and a mildly ported 8 valve starion head aint gonna flow as much as a gtir head thats for sure! remember its not just about boost, flow has as much a role to play.. :beer
