its taken about nine months of slowly tinkering around with peices of stainless, its still not finished yet. it need facing up and one more peice added to no.1 runner. but so far so good. it fits like a dream considering i tacked it all together without trying it in the engine bay. i would like to say a big thankyou to Aballistic for his priceless help and ideas on positioning the turbo and welding the manifold.
its made from 316 satinless steel steam pipe. OD is 49.6mm ID is 40.1 so the walls are nearly 5mm thick so fingers crossed for no cracks. the flanges are 14mm thick but still need facing.

Pardon me for being a dumbass here, but apart from less rust, why would you use stainless steel? This isn't a dig, I'm just curious as I know stainless is harder to weld and muck around with.

With these types of manifolds are they tune length? cause what i was thinking was to get an SR20 manifold and just get the sr20 flange cut and have a starion one put on then I'll have a starion manifold for a T28. think it'll work?
the turbo is a garret gt2876rs rated about 450hp.
stainless is actually easier to weld than mild steel, due it having less carbon and fewer impurities. the main reason for using it is it copes with heat a shit load better than nomal steel and it matchs the rest of the engine bay stainless goodies and it wasn't that much more expensive to make, stainless works out 26 bucks more. the supplier is Tube Sales in stapleton in brisbane. the bends had to be ordered in but only cost 7 bucks each. the rest was off cuts from work. runners 2,3,4 are very close to equal but couldn't make no 1 the same the compressor was in the way.
as for cuttin up an sr20 manifold :? , it won't fit no matter how big your sledge hammer is.

i thought i might also post some pics of my mpi while i'm in a posting mood. its a sonata mpi with an AU xr6 falcon throttle body (not pictured) i cut the egr valve off, and spent alot of time sanding, smoothing and polishing it. i still need to make a fuel rail and finish sanding it all back, but hey got to have somthing to do on a rainy day.
