i'm not sure if the map sensor will work with the chipped evo ecu - but if the maf works fine for you, and it proivides enough power for your enjoyment, why bother changing it?

Good thing I sometimes go through old posts....Rodney, I didn't realise you set this up with in a digital dash/VELNAS car.
I've got a GSR-III and I'm keen to know all the little tricks that enable the VELNAS, tacho and whatever else to continue to work with an aftermarket computer.
If you could put together a tech post on it, there'd be a few who'd want to know that stuff...

The bits in the dashed box are what you need to slap together. This is the high drive tacho circuit copied out of a well known aftermarket ignition module. Ive used it before on an rb20 powered r30 skyline running wasted spark.
Just a couple of 1n4007 diodes, some 36v 3W zener diodes, and a 10k resistor. The value of the resistor can be played with to ensure the pulses sent to the tacho have enough energy to drive it, but im fairly certain you'd find 10k would be fine :).
If your not really into electronics at all I can slap one together on some strip board for you and send it up :)

In a round about sort of way... The ignition module is driven by the ECU on an EVO, which takes the signals from the CAS, TPS, and all the other sensors and figures out what the current timing should be from various maps and other parameters.
Unlike our starions, in which the ignition module is driven directly by signals from the distributor, (the half-moon 'ignition module' inside our distributors is actually just a pass-through place holder, it does nothing), and signals from the knock sensor and map sensor used for retarding the timing if knock or overboost conditions are detected.

Got my Turbonetics t3/t4 few months back from Japan , Nice wheel setup for spool / powerband. Cars half caged now too, will post pics of that shortly. Fixed all engine leaks. Tidying up here and there...
