Group A Starion at 2012 F1 AGP albert park support race!

I checked out the starion at Phillip Island. Came fourth in one race I saw it in, very good effort in the company it was keeping. Asked for you Dave but they said that you were turning up for the Grand Prix I though you were referring to the Historic racing. Interesting to learn that that car was a JA 12/82 build date. according to the compliance plate.

Yeah Stace, Craig brought the car down for philip island historics & the agp support races as they are seperated by only a week. I couldnt do 2 weekends in a row so I'm leaving today for melbourne.

The car itself is the one ran in group e by Brian Sampson for melbourne brake & clutch in a silver & blue livery, it was then converted for group a, sampson sold it to Scotty Taylor after a couple of seasons & he painted it in the xerox shop white & orange colours.. It is presented as it was last raced in 1992 by Steven Bell.

qualified 14th out of 40 as craig wasnt feeling the best this arvo, the race on sat afternoon should be interesting though!

Might be good to see a starion doing alot of overtaking. Hope it's televised. I heard on the weekend that Avesco is more than a little worried about the rise of group A and C as well as historics. Particularly how big names such as Richards, Bowe, and Seton are joining the group.

Craig went from 14th to 17th to 6th! avoided some shit driving by other competitors & slashed his way through the field, it was great to watch. now for some m3's tomorrow morning!!

And they showed some great slo mo stuff on GPTV of the Staz shooting flames on one of the corners!

Awesome! Yeah they were supposedly gonna be on one hd but it didn't get shown. Maybe it will be in future..

6th again on sunday, would have been 5th but the gear knob snapped off on lap 3!

Overall a great weekend & i think we raised the profile of the starion, I had a touring car masters competitor asking if we knew of any group a starion's for sale as he wants to get out of the biante series as it's costing him too much money!

I met Greville Arnel yesterday too, he still lives starions, he has a ja jb & jd sitting in a shed on the gold coast..

He ran a group a car back in the day if u didn't know..

not sure about army rad, he is lyndon arnel's brother though, my dad used to race against him in his L34. Greville ran the miami mitsubishi group e starion which got converted to group a, then sold to ron masing of coltspeed.

pics and video are on my phone, i have put a few pics onto facebook as i can do it direct, but once i've connected my phone to the laptop i'll put em on photobucket then here :)

It was Lyndon and I can clearly remember him kissing?? the armco racing at L/side down in Hungary corner and getting 2armco shaped creases in the rear quarter panels.
When the track was built there was a bank + armco on the drivers side of the corner that was removed some years later.
