I realised I haven't put up a thread for my other 4th gen Galant Turbo coupe.

Ok, so given that it's a Galant GT it is still a turbo model with IRS that my Eterna GSR is, however it's the lesser spec 'lightweight' version with wind up windows, vinyl door cards, more basic seats, manual windows, no power steering, not even a remove fuel filler release inside the cabin. However as it's slightly newer it seems to have been factory fitted with a rear windscreen wiper and VELNAS trip computer which the Eterna missed out on.
Sometime in its life the turbo and/or injection system stopped working properly so one of the previous owners retro-fitted a carb setup on the original low-comp turbo block/head - needless to say it was painfully slow:
So off came the manifolds, and as I was no longer using the 4cyl turbo engine from the Eterna GSR I borrowed the manifolds, AFM, intercooler + piping and exhaust system from it.

I also swapped over the coilovers and SSR rims from the Eterna also (at this stage I'm feeling bad about essentially turning the Eterna into a parts car!)
At a track day I managed to crack the ring lands on the number 3 piston, it was starting to get bad blow-by and running a bit rough for the 2nd half of the day
Just as well that I had purchased these 90s era HKS forged pistons on factory rods with ARP rod studs fitted
engine back from the shop, bored out 0.50mm oversized to suit the pistons, balanced shafts removed, entire rotating assembly balanced up
Now I wanted to do something a little different, I had originally intended on doing the DOHC head conversion on the Eterna before I went nuts and decided to ruin the car by putting a V6 in it, but I wanted to do something a bit more unique with the Galant GT, so I had acquired a complete Sirius DASH 3x2V engine from a mid 80s FWD E15A Eterna VR - (sample image):
It has a unique valve arrangement where there are three valves per cylinder, however the largest inlet valve of the two only operates above 2500rpm or thereabouts, to promote turbulance and more torque at a lower rpm range -
It works by using an oil pump mounted in the cylinder head driven off a lobe on the end of the camshaft
which then directs oil flow through an electronically controlled solenoid
then into the rocker shaft which houses the inlet rocker arms that have their own actuators that engage/disengage the 3rd valve operation
make sense? Good! So hopefully I'll have the engine all together and back in the car before the end of the weekend, I do need to do some re-wiring and re-route the upper radiator hose before I can attempt to run the engine though.

I originally had a wide block DASH to put into my JB but got cold feet and sold it a few years ago.

PS the computer also had an overboost function that allowed a short period of increased boost preasure presumably for overtaking .

Sad about the yellow one but good job on this one looks heaps better than when I saw it.
I once bought one with a dash motor in it with vr4 intercooler be almost a 10 years ago. It was junkyard special from the wreckers where I bought all my dash stuff from back then, only had it 2 days and swapped it for a mint NZ Sigma GSR. It could go though and I had big plans lol.
I'm liking that body shape more and more.

engine's back in the hole! Gave the engine bay a bit of a clean up before hand too.
Unfortunately hit a bit of a snag, because I don't have a wiring loom for the DASH ECU and injection unit that I have, I opted to use the original injection unit - it bolted to the DASH inlet manifold fine but it overhangs a little bit and there happen to be vacuum passages exposed where it overhangs, so it's probably going to run like ass. Also the existing intercooler piping doesn't quite fit over the top of the rocker cover as the DASH injection unit is raised up because the DASH head is taller. Also as it's a FWD inlet manifold the thermostat housing is positioned in an awkward spot and all the coolant lines running off it are just pointing in the wrong direction so need to mock up some other piping to make it work.
I may try making up a wiring loom for the DASH ECU if I could find the correct plugs which go into the ECU, but chances are the injectors will leak as they've been sitting for so long and the DASH injectors are known for leaking anyway.

I will email you some pics of how I ran the coolant pipes from the back of the motor to the radiator. (My manifold was also FWD.) You will need to source a JB thermostat housing to get the water flow going the other way. Its suprisingly simple once you do that.
Looks good mate. Great job on the engine bay cleanup. One little suggestion if I may - clean off the silver rocker cover paint and get some red wrinkle finish paint and hit it with that. Then just sand back the raised lettering with wet'n'dry and its comes up a treat.
Of course you know this is screaming MPI in the future dont you

well I'm bored so figured I would update my car threads.
So I put the Galant GT on the market in order to obtain a certain red car.. which unfortunately for me was purchased before I had a chance to, however did manage to sell the GT eventually.
How it looked when I dropped it off to the new owner
Ended up selling it with the custom coilovers (which was no big deal because I can now purchase D2 coilovers for a Starion), the 3.909 LSD but not with the 16" SSR rims which I ended up selling to a mate with an EX Lancer Turbo monster.
So.. one last parting shot
So I put the Galant GT on the market in order to obtain a certain red car.. which unfortunately for me was purchased before I had a chance to, however did manage to sell the GT eventually.
