yeah as the topic says.. i have some commercial multipurpose paint stripper.. can i use that to take off the white paint on my rims?
what i mean to ask is, will they cause damage to my rims or tyres?
i want to use the stuff LSX was recommending.. BRITE SHINE :D

i like em white too! but they did a bad apint job, so now i want to remove the old paint, polish, and then see how good it looks.. and when the time (money) comes, paint em white again!
LSX, why didnt the paint stripper work good? do u reckon i should try it on mine? you can see the pics from my site below..

Id say put the car on blocks, take wheels to tyre shop, have the tyre removed.
Go to a metal polisher or similar, have the mags acid dipped, and polished. This removes all paint, brake dust, dirt - everything. The polish makes them look like new.
Put tyres back on, and it looks like you just spent $BLING$ $BLING$
They can put chrome etc on for you as well, but its generally not worth it, as the aftermarket chrome has tendancies to fall off the mag after time.
From memory, friend of mine had it done, was $50 x 4 for the dip, and $300 x 4 for gold chrome (which lastest 6 months  ) but it was a while ago, so dunno how acurate that is.

I really dont think the stuff i used was left on long enough. I was warned to wash it off as soon as you finish applying it.. maybe the were wrong, but i havent bothered trying again as the brite shine worked magic on my rims..
BTW androoz, are you dislexic or do you just have unco-ordinated fingers when you type my name? roflLSX

I used paint stripper on my AC Cordia rims to get that protective film crap off that was peeling off all over.
Worked really well and the rims came up really shiny. I left it on for a little while to do its work and had to do few coats on each wheel.
A toothbrush is good for getting into fidly areas, but watchout they melt after a while :P

hey guys, paint stripper will obviously fuck rubber. there are two main types of paint stripper: Wax type and Solvent type. Wax type is the shit you want. it's basically a gell. the stuff we use on aircraft (7000 series al and composite surfaces) is black(not sure of the trade name) after you strip the surface make sure you throughly clean it with a solvent like acetone then it would be a good idea to clean the surface with Deoxidine 624. to get all the shit out of the metal grain. then polish yourself silly :-)
as long as you keep the surface clean and polished you shouldn't see any corrosion at all
