Starion_Kid696's JA starion NUMBER 2

Post by Starion_Kid696 »

Hey i bought another starion today, 82 JA
pretty much stock but it has:

cheapo headunit
sweet looking turbo timer with 1 minute, 3 minutes or 5 minutes and a STOP button
excessivly storng rear gas struts... neally broke the rear glass when i unlocked the hatch :(
custom dead rat under the seat.. well just its skeliton
rear hatch spoiler
drivign lights

paid $400 for it it ran but the turbo intake pipe is ripped so leaks hardcore and it also needs a battery.

unsure what to do with it yet... parts car or bush basher or fix it up and get it regestered

From the pictures it looks to be quite a straight car. Fix it up and sell it for a profit or fix it up and keep it for yourself :)
Sold - 1987 Mitsubishi Starion GSR V DASH
Current - 1995 Subaru Legacy TT SW
- 1983 Mitsubishi Starion

Profit and Starion in the same sentence, Your crazy. Starions dont sell in North QLD. Phil had my JA for sale for ages before i bought it and i got it quite cheap.

If you keep it you will have,
-3 regos/insurance
-3 cars to maintain
Not like your going to have alot of money on 1st year apprenticship wages.

I think put all the good bits into your MPI car and part this one out keeping important bits (gearbox, diff, etc) for personal spares then strip the shell.
-JA Starion with JD bits , Forged engine, Heaps of mods (parked up)
-BFII XR6 Turbo Ute , Here comes 400hp for 2k :p
-77 Mazda 323 drag car. 13bt rotary project.

Yes i have too many toys.

Its hard enough keeping one Starion in working order. I am with JD_Stazza. Its a parts car for things you will need and better to have them on hand than to have to source from the rest of the world.

I am basing that comment on what appears to be some rust issues in the photos.

Good buy though, even offloading some of the things will get you back the $400 and then you have a free source of spare parts which you WILL need.
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

bit of an update... i now know what im goign to do with it... lads at work said demolition derby car but its no competition against that old solid as a rock volvo :(, cant afford 3 regos and also cant drive 3 cars at once so not practical. Im parting the car out and selling the engine to a mate to put into his L300 van. We took the car to a long gravel road to test it... goes pretty hard for stock... it had a good hour and a half drive but yeh keep an eye out as some parts will be up for sale on here and ebay

yep that one had parts car written all over it!

starions should never be in demo derbies though lol every panel is precious!
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Too right, would you demo a 'classic' with Bathurst pedigree and unparalleled production car history - no it would be almost criminal not to mention degrading! Sounds similar to the stories I have heard about E38 Chargers and Pacers being wrecked and scraped for beer money not 20 years ago - now how many cartons of VB would you get for a rough E34 Pacer or Big Tank RT?

That rear hatch upper spoiler is rare and is definitely worth keeping ;)

How

Post by Vulpes »

This is what I dont get about how retarded people are. How does a car that was way ahead of its time, that cost $25,000 when you could buy a top of the range SE sigma for $8,000, that had leather seats, fuel injection, turbo, 125kw etc etc etc end up like this ? Where the hell did the people go wrong who bought this baby as a beautiful shiny new supercar ?
This kind of thing annoys me :x
