Condensation/Water in Tail Lights :(

Anyone know the cause ? I will be removing them first thing tomorrow morning and trying to solve the problem before it gets worse and rusts something

I found water in my taillights, ended up ripping them apart and cleaning them, haven't been a problem since.
I think it's just the general design of the enclosure that allows water to get in over time.
Might be a idea to take the lights out and push them into a basin of water face first (without submerging them completely) to see where the water seeps in and use RTV or silicone to block the areas causing the problems.

Nah i've been down that road and they end up with dust in them over time.
Might be the rubber gasket thingy behind the lamp,they always crack and fall apart,then let water in where the indictor meets the tail lights

Any way of repairing the rubber stuff, or is it better to just get new rubber and try to reseal it

the rubber goes hard and brittle and water seeps in, silastic seems to replace the rubber ok,

I used some of that sticky stuff you find holding the protective plastic behind door panels.
Im not sure what its called,I just found a roll of it with no description on the package.
That seemed to work a treat as it doesnt go off.

take them apart, clean the up like new. then use that sikaflex shit to re seal it... thats what i would do if mine were in good nick.

D-Mastic will also do the trick.

I'm not sure if all Starion rear lights have it, but mine have a small hole in each of the light sections to let all the moisture out....

I haven't seen any other starions up close to have a look, but it looks standard...

Nah I dont think its standard.I have a pair of tail lamps that have holes drilled in them and they just let dust in.
