I know a lot of people spray this bar the same colour as the car after a respray, but for those who haven't yet or don't want to here's a quick, easy, sure-fire way to get it back to new!!!

Here's a pic of an old bar I have, what it used to look like along side a bit I test sprayed!

The secret is...

VHT Brake, Caliper, Drum & Rotor Spray in Satin Black
Just spray it on like normal spray paint, but in really light coats! If you just try to spray it, it WILL run! It takes about 30 secs for each quick coat to dry, just keep coating till your happy! I found this because, after changing my wheels, the Calipers were very visable. I bought the red one and the guy suggested black for the rest of the brake assembly, well I got a bit carried away and sprayed the suspension as well to see what would happen! Looks awesome! So I had like a whole can sitting here, so I just tested a bit on the damaged bar I have and you can see the change! I have also sprayed the fuel tank, which I believe has drastically changed the look of the back of the car! As always, Wax & Grease removed should be used, and never too sparingly! Just the tiniest bit of silicone or grease will ruin your day! Here's the finished result! Hope it brightens your day as much as it did mine! :D

Oh, BTW, this stuff is bulletproof! I have tried scraping it, cracking it, etc. It's for life! It's temp rated to 490 celcius! I 've found best results if you just give it a buff with Tyre Shine when you do you wheels, keeps it looking awesome! :beer

Hi
I went a bit overboard with that VHT spray as well, I bought silver for calipers and ended up doin a whole heap of heatshields, ignition boxes, charcoal canister, battery holder and wipers in it,
Also that same satin black caliper spray works really well on the black arms down the side of the rear hatch glass as they are made of alluminium and this paint sticks right too it once all the old paint is removed, can be done without removing them from car.
VHT does a satin black paint designed for plastics, vinyl and interior bits which may be better suited for the black on the rear bar than the caliper spray. But as you said that paint is great stuff.

BTW dont bother trying to do a bonnet with the VHT hood and bumper Black - takes 2 cans and comes out heaps patchy like mine did.

Here's another trick for restoring your tail lights - try using a decent brand of car polish on them. Works a treat.

Very Nice bar work.. Looks like your car on the can too!

I hit the tail lights with 2000 wet & dry then polish them with the buffer, comes out shiny new.

Never thought of buffing it... my lights were pretty good anyway! Any ideas on how to clean the clear reverse lights, the right one has green crap in it from a water leak the previous idiot owner allowed go unchecked! BTW absolutely wrapped with the Caliper paint through my wheels, and I had already gone beserk with the Black, Door handles, rear hatch (as above), plastic guard\grill on bonnet where the wipers are! Might look into this plastic paint though! But the paint I got from the US for my centre console is the best! Krylon Fusion! It's chip, fade and crack proof, designed for plastics! Google it... :beer

The red brake light lens comes off first then the indicator lens, I managed to pry myne off being very careful. You'll find the reverse light lens is part of the red brake light lens and you can clean them all out at once.

You can put them the sink and fill it with warm water and dish washing liquid, then it loosens up and you can shake it around and it should come good.
