Bought this:

Has the original digital FM stereo,VELNAS etc in it.

Whats the best way to widen the slots to fit a modern single stereo?

I was thinking of grinding stones + drill.

~1983 Starion GSR-III or GSR-X, here is a pic of it

Al - yeah I'm considering that option now. I got this so my centre would be the right colour (match the VELNAS) without having to bugger around painting things. But then I realised I am missing another silver piece, so I might as well just buy the silver paint and plastic primer and paint the black trim that has already been butchered.

Now all I need is another Starion to use it on.

also, original Starion manual + original paperwork :D :D :D :D :D :D

happy happy joy joy

Edit: Just paid for it. My girlfriend who lives up north is driving the 200Km to pick it up, then storing it at her parents house, then a month later she will be driving it 700km south to see me and to bring it to me :D

Very happy indeed. Should match my new centre console nicely.

Oh and its 100% road legal. Has a current WOF and is registered.

Yea I saw this on trademe and thought "hmmmm" but auto's are work of the devil.

When your gf arrives you should run up to the car arms wide open as if you were going to hug her, then run past and hug the starion :P

Nice score, have fun man :D

i agree with alpos...don't ruin the original look of the console. Hide the new head unit away in the glovebox, more stealth and leaves the classy look of the factory unit

I like your thinking, but unfortunately that would be a tad inconvenient. But never fear, I have too many of these things and too few headunits. So nothing will be getting the chop.

Well..... except for the console that was already slightly chopped, and check this out, I've almost finished my cup holder:
