On my stock rims, i'm running a little smaller profile 195/65R14's, helps get rid of a bit of sidewall flex, slightly lowers the cars centre of gravity, slightly increase it's acceleration and slightly throws the speedo out.
*Disclaimer: These effects are all very slight, if not entirely imagined
Before that I had slightly bigger ones, Pirelli P6000 215/65R14's. They were nice, but made the car look a bit like a 4wd. Had to have the pressure very high or they'd flex a bit around corners

currently running positraction 215, 65 R14 (stock alloys) on front due to low cost ($79 / tyre)
have very well worn bridgestone sf-340 eager 225, 60 , r14 rear soon to be replaced with either hancook 225, 65 r14 ($107 / tyre) or
if they pop real soon may have to put same as front on the back.
Can you tell im on a budget?

On the 'JA' - 195/65/14, factory is 195/70/14, so there is a 3% difference there. Cant remember the brand, but they make a squeal noise, and that helps me sleep at night.
On the 'JB' - 215/65/15 factory, and thats whats on it. According to our friend miata.net, 215/60/15's would match the speedo better. Tyres are poo Firestones. Although judging the way the 65 buldge out like some fatty just hopped it, its probably bang on.

thanx guys, i want to really get a set of decent rims for the starion but i live up a dirt raod and the new rims would probly just get chipped alot.
i currently have some old 215/60/14 optimo plus, but i dont think any tire manafacture makes this size anymore so i found the closest thing there
Yokohama S306 205/60/14

From the tyre calculator toy:
Looks fine to me. Over here we have a 10% tolerance for such things.Speedometer reading with non-stock tyre is 4.3% too fast
When your speedo reads 100KPH you are actually travelling 95.7KPH
