I don't like my centre console! It's scraped silver and looks well old( well it is)! If I was to paint it, what would I use and how would I go about it? I'd essentially like to keep the silver!

i have recently repainted my console, i considered doing the silver again. Then i came up with this funky pearl colour and decided to do it that way, i have taken some photo's on the whole process.
It's pretty easy to do. The centre console comes apart easily, remove all of the screws and it comes apart in sections ( silver parts ). Then all you have to do to paint it is to scotch it down with some grey scotch ( you can find this at good auto paint stores
). If you want to get fussy you can fine fill all of the little scratches and divots in them and then finish it off with a 1200, light grey scotch then paint them the desired colour. Clearing them will give the glossy appearance, the more colour paint that you apply before the clear will give the depth.
Once the parts have been cleared allow them to dry overnight or a few days would be better, rub them gently down with 2000 wet. Hand cut them up using a cutting compound then polish them up and re-assemble the console and bingo.
Job done.
:D
hope that helps, it's kinda brief. if you would like some more help PM me and i'll do my best.
I hope to have the pics up soon.

Right, Mine came up shithouse!!! I used a chrome paint, that fisheyes if I clear it, and scraches and leaves fingerprints if I touch it! Just crap! Chrome looks awesome though! What paints did you use? I've heard about this paint call "Krylon Fusion", it's a spray paint for plastics, that's also chip resistant! But seems to be only in the U.S! :?

Just got some of this Krylon stuff! Absolutely awesome! It finishes rock hard (like, I stuffed one up, and had trouble taking it off with sandpaper), glossy and sticks to plastic like no mans business! I had to get it from the U.S, but I knew someone who was there and gave them a call, they brought it back with them! 100% recommended! :beer
