Hood-liner HELP & advice please.

Seeing pix of both interiors, it seems that "hood-lining" installation for Starions & Lancer EXs are similar.
How did you remove the hood-liner without breaking the odd 'J/L-shaped' hidden plastic clips?

I have to remove the hood-liners from two Lancer EXs. Three people (2 "pros" & myself) have tried unsuccessfully so far.
I can't even see the damn things... far less get access to them with tools.
We even tried 'lifting' the liner after removing plastic 'surround'... still NOT visible!

FOUR roof-mounting clips have broken so far. We stopped any further attempts until a solution is found.
They are IMPOSSIBLE to find, (& I still have a complete set from both cars) so I want to reuse them when the time comes.

Any ideas/suggestions... OEM suppliers... or Image "factory hood-liner tool" recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks.

^ ^ ^ Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I hope someone has a suggestion for a Image or aftermarket tool that can be used...
or even better, a way to SEE the damn things in the first place. :glare:

Is a trim type of tool they recommend using in the manual.

but doesn't seem too different from a plastic knife lol......

It would be a matter of slipping it between the bodywork and hoodmlining and sliding it along until you came across one of the clips

Thanks for the link CaptShiner.
Yup, I have a plastic (eBay) upholstery tool set like that.
... but when we try to "slide it along" to the nearest clip, it SNAPS with the slightest pressure!

Does anyone have a Service Manual for any 80's Lancer 1400 EX... Lancer 1800 GSR... or Lancer Turbo 2000 model?

If so, can you please post a pic of the "hood-liner removal page" similar to the one that Neil posted above?
At least that will tell me exactly where the clips are located... and how they are fastened.

Thanks.
