I am in the process of converting my entire interior to black. Over the past few months I have been experimenting with vynal spray and have been really impressed with the results when the surface is cleaned and prepared properly. I am lucky enough to have three parts cars that I dont have to destroy any of my original brown interior. The dash is out at the moment and most parts are already done. Watch this space for pics. The black and tan looks great.

Are you having everything black or just spraying the brown pieces to black?

The dash and door cards on the track car were originally maroon and I used the VHT vinyl spray (flat black) was impressed with the end result.

Keen to see how your's comes up (which is something your lovely wife probably said to you on the odd occasion LOL ), particularly with the contrasting tan.

I wanted to do Marie's silver car dash and door cards (grey) with the black to contrast with the lighter grey but she wouldnt be in it.

Well she said it looks amazing. She couldnt believe how well it stood up to hard use and abuse. I guess the reason it stays so long is that it isnt so hard that it gets all brittle but stays just soft enough to stay flexible and adapt to the inevitable scrapes and knocks that its going to get from time to time. :o

the most problematic piece i found when attempting to paint my interior black is the cover that goes over your gauge cluster.. each one i had at the time had a large number of cracks in it, and i just couldn't get a shiney finish.. might have been my lack of skill though.

Although, in hindsight, perhaps a shiney finish that close to the front windshielf wasn't a good idea considering i needed to be able to see out the front on sunny days too lol

yeah covering that section in suede is a good idea

G'Day all, well I lasted about 5 weeks without working on my car or posting. I started back on my car on Friday and it is all together now and the interior is black. Amazing results but also an amazing amount of hard work. I will post some pics hopefully soon. The tan and black looks incredible and I took a huge amount of time to make sure every clip was replaced and in place. Parts cars are wonderful things. I have also replaced my gauge cluste with the indiglo set I got ages ago, as they are white in the daytime they look really good against the black interior. The dashboard was a huge amount of work, even requiring removal of the windscreen to be able to re-colour the dash right along the top edge. New screen going in next week. The old one was stuffed well and truly. Thrash, what i found with the instruments cover was the dye that you paint on that I gto from leather magic in the US works amazinglly well. It is tan. The glovebox lid was a challenge. You cant use vynal spray on them for some reason, they just blister. I ruined three of them before I finally used the black dye I got from the US. Much better as it is the same colour but doesnt bubble the plastic. pics soon.
Oh by the way I was very lucky in that the starion i bought for 350 bucks off ebay has a blue/grey interior and the vents and clock and glovebox lock were all black. Nice seeing as how the clock is black and the writing is still orange on it, looks nice and original.

Yeah, Daryl good to see you back! With regard to the glovebox, I'm pretty sure if you used a clear plastic primer, that would have stopped the blistering.

Thrash, the windscreen was totally trashed by 26 years of stone chips, when the sun hit it you could hardly see through it. Replacing it was something I always intended to do and this just kille two birds with one stone.
Just look up leather magic, its an amazing product.
