I am going to paint the wheels I am getting of Rad the same white as the car, Can anyone suggest the best paint to use or can I just use the same as the car is painted in ? Is it hard wearing enough or is there something special I should use.

as long as the wheel is clean and has primer the paint will stick.

but it can still be chipped but rocks and stuff.

Its just like painting anything else. Prepare the surface properly, light even coats, plenty of drying time. Just make sure you use a clear coat on top, because wheel cleaner is very harsh.

I would suggest 2 pack. A lot harder than acrylic to resist stone chips and rough tyre fitters...

yes 2 pack would be best but make sure you let the paint harden right before you put them on your car.

3 votes for 2 pak Daryl. You will find it much more resilient to rocks, road grime and chipping.

btw -that photo you put up on the EVO thread of your interior, geez it looks good mate. You did a first rate job on it. :beer

Thanks heaps Greg for the comments about my interior. I like it a lot. I was surprised how well that product worked and how well it is holding up. Thanks also heaps for the vote for 2 pak, thats what I will do then. Cheers.

Are you going to spray them yourself in 2 pack or get someone to do it for you?
If you are going to do it yourself I suggest you try the iso-free 2 pack. It's a hichem product that you can get as a solid or as a clear for COB. It intended for the DIY market. I use a good mask (sundstrom) with the proper filters, cost about $100. If you use normal 2 pack you should be in a booth with full suit and full face mask as the isocyinates are nasty and get absorbed through the skin.

Stackable filters... realy works well, I use it myself for fiberglass, painting and sanding (walls and cars...)
Long time since I bought It but I think I recall It came in different sizes aswell... S,M & L?

Just a little bit cheaper overhere, nut much, 10AUD not more.

I'm not sure that white wheels will look that great on a white car. Too much white maybe? Would also show dirt and brake dust like a something.
Try silver and see how they look?

That's very similar. Mine is green. But has an extra cartrige. When I sprayed my mates car in his gargage I had to change the prefilter after the 2nd coat of clear as it was fully blocked. The 2 pack clear is sticky shit, it's pretty much a 2 part glue.

Thanks but the reason i am painting them is I saw the same wheel on a white car painted and they looked amazing. Cant recall where I saw it now.
Will put up the pics when its done.

I just got my stock 14" wheels powder coated black by a guy in Kippa-Ring QLD $55 a rim which included sand blasting as well, though is proberly no good to you considering you're in Sydney. But search around might be an option instead of painting them.

White on white i agree maybe too much white, Lite colours look fantastic with dark wheels.

My Starion is silver with black wheels, and have nothing but compliments about how the black wheels look. I also have a Pale Yellow Galant Rally car with black Starion rims on it and it looks awesome. It used to have white Starion rims on it but i changed them to black and it now looks heaps tougher. On a white car Gunmetal grey might be an option as well.

Thanks for your opinions. As I said lucky we are all different. Personally i really dont like any wheel in black. I think you lose too much of its definition and design, it all just fades to "black" so to speak.
