AE86 does have an 18mm positive offset for those who were curious, they're also four stud.

If there are no four studs available, Ill change the rear to 5 stud. Now that'll confuse future austarion members for years to come :D

But at the moment I'm too poor, going to paint my mags black, with gold ring seperate tyre/mag, and do the little Mitsi logo on each wheel in red. (Car is going to be painted black by the way).

Is the offset on all four 18mm+ or is it just the rears or just the fronts ??

I found a huge set of listings for 18mm offset wheels as well, unfortunately they're all 20 inch chrome SUV mags :) eheh so no help there, unless you want to be driving on rubber bands.

To fit the widebody wheels to a narrowbody you will need either 4 16 x 8" wheels from the front as they have the right offset (+18). Or 2 16 x 7 (front) and 2 16 x 8's (front)

The distance from the centre line of the wheel to the wheels mounting face is the offset.

The VR4 wheels will have a FWD offset between (+38 to +45) adn will sit too far in, plus they look like crap anyway.

The Supra wheels will fit on the Starion fine.

Yes, in the US, the standard wheels were 16 x 7 with +18 on the front, 16 x 8 with -10 offset on the rear. Some cars had the sports handling package and came with 16 x 8 +18 on the front and 16 x 9 0 offset on the rear. hence, to fit on a narrow body (+18 offset) you would need the 16 x 7 and 16 x 8 +18 offset wheels. :)

ok i just was´nt sure what u where meaning. But if the orginal flatbody wheels are 6,5" wide with +18 offset sould 7 and 8" wide wheels have diffrent offset to fit the car or is there still some space behind the wheels to fit wider wheels?

There is plenty of room at the rear for wider wheels. The front also has enough room. I have fitted 225/50 tyres on 15 x 7 at the front without any trouble. I currently have 245/45 on 16 x 9" wheels on the rear and they fit fine, but the offset is wrong (+40 so they sit in a bit closer to the strut). 16 x 8 with a +18 offet would be perfect.

Another Zac, in the states has the widebody wheels on his narrowbody, with the 8" rears, he had to modify the gaurds slightly, but they do fit.

I have a picture of another one around somewhere....

Do you know if he was using front wheels for his 16 x 8's at the rear? They look like they could be 16 x 8 rears which have a 0 offset and hence the reason why the guards needed mods.

The wheels look great.

Here is a pic of my 16 x 8's and 9's with +40 offset on my car:

If they had a +20 or similar offset they would sit a lot better in the guards.

wheels

Post by WANTSOM »

Hey Charlie,

Where was that photo taken? Who owns the shitbox 4WD's in the background? Prob a couple of old farts for doing the shopping (for motors, diffs, guards etc)

as for wheels, to each their own but for me 1 answer = Simmons, but way pricey. Interesting thread though, mucho info - thanks guys

Cheers
Greg

BTW - Cookie does positive offset + negative camber divided by positive caster squared = 0
:P

yeah, they are the 16x8 rears with the 0 offset, you can tell, as the spokes are angled, whereas on the front they are flat.

here is what you need to do:

awwwww yeah, now thats mean.
