You can get multi ones, that have 3 pins (red or green), if you merge the outside pins, and run the inside, you actually get orange.

Hook four in series, and you've got a 12Vish 4 LED amberish blinker.

Or just buy a normal bulb, and save the hassle.

erm...shudnt be enclosed, not sure about a HID installation though. u just pop the bulb out the back (which can be replaced with a HID bulb) then u shud just be able to run the wires from the new HID bulb to the HID starter and give that some power, should be no worries in theory i would have thought.

But back to your question.. I've found that visiting shops (particularly ones that sell car bits) and asking the guy behind the counter these types of questions can gain valuable results.
he he, too simple, but very effective, I also wonder how I got along without forums, what works for me is taking the broken stuff along with me to the store and talk to the guy behind the counter..... it's amazing what these guys pick up along the way.. :beer

When buying H4's can I go for 100/90W bulbs rather than 60/55W? even 170W ones? or will the wiring loom crap itself and the lights overheat the enclosure?

Yup, it surely will. If you run your own wiring and relays you could probably pull it off, but those lights put out a lot of heat.

Just some extra notes, higher wattage bulbs will cause the enclosure to corrode, and HID kits are illegal (unless your WOF guy doesnt notice) in NZ now. You have to have an enclosure that is designed for an HID system.

You can buy new light enclosures for the Starion, which would make things a bit brighter. There was a site (which I lost because I reformatted my computer) that sold 'euro' and 'diamond' style units too.

When you say HID's, does that include the replacement bulbs that call themselves HID's (H4 type).. not the proper kits

Most people get away with those blue tinge Halogens. When I say HID kit I mean the real kit, with real HID bulbs and an inverter. They are the expensive ones.

As for heat, it just depends on how much heat they give off. I was under the impression they gave off less heat, allowing them to produce more light energy with the same or less power.

I'd just get the brightest Halogen you can, with a 55/60W rating. Save yourself the trouble. Aus has stricter rules than NZ, and I know here HID Kit + factory lens = pink sticker etc unless you dont get caught and have a friendly mechanic or an ignorant one :)

Those blue tinted H4's in NZ are not really allowed either, but most WOF guys let the cars go through, nobody seems to care. The light has to be white or amber by the official book, but you see lots of the blue driving around at night.

Not that I can talk, last time I got a WOF my battery wasnt even bolted in.

If you keep the bulb under 6000k then the light wont be blue-purple, also with the starion u need to get a kit that has both high and low beams and are h4. If you are interested nissansilvia.com has a group buy thing for $370 delivered for a complete kit.
Starions are a disease, the only cure is poverty.
