Re-Paint
Hey guys,
Just another question. Those of you guys who live in sydney, where do you go for a respray? I will be needing the whole car done and want a good job, but places like Mad Hatters customs charge too much for my liking. Its not an overly hard spray, just metallic black all over.

How much do you want to spend and how long do you want it to last? Are you going to park the car in the sun much?
If you want a top quality job in 2-pak, it starts at around $5000 and up and you must use a spray booth as this stuff is very toxic. Quality ranges from a factory paint job all the way up to a show class job. I think you can get cheaper 2-pak jobs - my memory is fading on this one.
At around $2000 to $3500 you can get a good quality acrylic laqcer job done. If you choose metallic, the materials costs a bit more and takes a bit more skill to apply. A non metallic is a bit cheaper.
From about $1000 to $2000 you can get a backyard job done. You can get away with this if you don't plan on exposing the car to too much UV and look after the paint. ie. Keep it clean! It will last 5 to 6 years so I'm told.
Someone can correct my $$ numbers if they're out of date, but these were roughly the numbers I got when I did my research a little while back.
A lot also depends on how much preparation you need to make on your car. Check out TAFE courses too as this might be an option and they may let you use the spray booth out of hours. But be prepared for sh*tloads of work if you decide to do it yourself. I'm talking 1 to 2 months of prep and spray work if you're working full time at the same time, and thats every evening and most weekends!

black is the way to go.
being a detailer and working in a panel shop i must say nothing shows up a cars sexier lines better than a nice black paint job.
Mettalic black is awesome, as you can get the nice depth from a good cut and polish, put it out in the sun and watch it glitter.
