Head-up display

Post by jrod82 »

My mate used to drive this *ahem* silvia *ahem* that shone a reversed digital speed readout onto a tinted square on the bottom right of his windscreen so he didn't have to lower his dirty fat nissan driving head to read his speedo.. can you get aftermarket kits to do this?

My alternative idea was to tax the necessary bits out of an unused digital dash and make it up myself, but that would require a lot of swearing and thinking, so I would like to avoid having to do that if at all possible.

Ideas please :D

I know of a aftermarket Japanese unit that displays speed and revs onto the windscreen. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.
It looks very similar to the APEXi AVCR. The display was 1,000 times better than the *cough silvia * cough.
I'll have a good look around on the net and see if i can come across it. Mind you i last saw it at Auto Salon and it was on an Import, so you may not be able to get it in Aus.
There is bound to be something available, i'll have a chat to some auto gadget guys and c what i can come up with. :D

Thanks MelbStazz, I found something:

http://www.defi-shop.com/product/basis/basis_top.html

US$176.80 at http://www.optionimports.com/defivsdbasis.html

Which is only the price of a few speed camera tickets.

That looks like the one. :D
Not a bad idea that.
Defi make the guages that i would love to get, but from memory they are pricey, well worth it though.
Glad you found it.
You could also try sub-zero
www.sub-zero.com.au
they are also a Defi stockist.

The most expensive Defi guages are the Daisy Link.
I've also come across some more expensive guages, these one's are OMORI, they are the ants pants. Not sure if you can get them here.
We had a R32 come through work with a full house Omori set up.
NIIIIICE :D
I managed to pick up some Autometer guages real cheap through work, should be fitted up in the new console shortly.
I'm still saving for my BLITZ Boost guage, funky bright blue display. Hope i get it for my B'day next month.
