As it says:
"Want To Buy: Optical Distributor for MPI conversion"

Have tried the wreckers and no luck at the moment. Hard to come by.
Mitsubishi Australia want too much for????

I have tried repco and other Thompson Spares...No luck either

I am going to need it very soon. Like with in the next few weeks to go MPI.

I'm surprised that no wreckers have a dizzy from a sonata or L300. Check all the dodgy pick-a-parts as they might have a sonata stashed away without knowing about it.

You have been asking for an efi 2.4L sonata dizzy not an optical starion dizzy?

"You have been asking for an efi 2.4L sonata dizzy "

This is what i have been saying to the guys at the wreckers over the phone but mentioning that it is an optical dizzy that I am after. Is what I am saying wrong????? What should I be asking for??

I haven't tried asking for a Sonata dizzy yet though. Are all sonata diizzy's optical ones????

There are optical dizzy's and there are optical dizzy's.

You'll need to look inside the dizzy to ensure it is suitable for MPI.

The one you're after has 4 reference slots (1 for each cylinder) in the disc plus a 5th slot for Cylinder 1 TDC. That way the dizzy will produce both REF and SYNC signals.

The inside should look like this - red arrows indicate the REF slots. Blue arrow indicates the SYNC slot. Some optical dizzy's don't have this SYNC slot. The L300 came out with both types of dizzy's so check it before you buy.

You dont really need an optical dizzy if you are planning to run mpi. Im assuming you bought the wolf from sonic, so unless you are planning to run squential injection and/or multicoils you could use your standard starion dizzy. You just need to get your wolf read a low magentic input for it to be able to work out your engine speed. The reason you want a optical dizzy or more importantly the 5th slot is for the computer to tell at what stage your engine is in the combustion process so it can fire in the right cylinder.

Thanks Cookie for that info. It will definetly help me out alot for my search this weekend.

Thanks mrb1 for the confirmation

Ricethief.....Yes.. I did buy the wolf from Sonic.
I have spoken to Starion VR4 and he will be putting it for me. But, first I need to find an optical dizzy like in the picture cookie has provided.
I want to go sequential injection and that is the reason for the optical dizzy.
Then Starion VR4 and I can schedule a time for the installation.

The search continues...............

Thanks again to all who have replied

I got a sonata/galant style manifold from EKW in Keilor, victoria, for around $125 a while back, complete with optical 4+1 dizzy and coil. I had bought a bunch of other stuff at the time so I got it cheaper, but Fred might still have some around..

Cheers,
Duncan.
